VERY GOOD NEWS to all the Maruti 800 car owners having AC and not changed to 134a gas by incorporating a kit costing something like 6000- 7000.

After using my car as Non - AC from 2009 till 2017 for about 8-9 yrs when the gas changed from R 12 to 134a, today I had been to a well - known AC service centre for all kinds of AC repairs for Carrier, Volvo and all kind of cars. He said there is no need for going in for any special kit costing Rs 6000 - 7000 as advised by Mandovi and others.

I stood there from 1 pm to 4.30 pm to get the work done.
He first did N2 check up for any leakage in the coil and not any leakage. This took about 1 1/2 hrs to pressurize it up to 200 kg/cm2, In normal case it should hold up to 120 kg pressure .

Then checked for vacuum and it took about an hour.

Then top up compressor oil by about 100- 125 ml.

Now the important point is gas, Since R12 is banned, a new gas M49 is available, costing Rs 500 for 500 gms. After filling up the gas, they did trail run on Road, idle run etc and set the temp cut- off at 7.5 degree C which was so chilling at top point 5. So went on reducing up to point no 2 and still it was 8.5 degree C .

Well the total Bill came to Rs 2000 ---- Rs 500 for N2 checkup, Rs 200 for Compressor oil, Rs 500 for M-49 Gas and Rs 1000 as service charges.

I hope it works well.

Re: Good news for M- 800 Dx car owners.

A small Typo error, Total Bill was Rs 2200.
This morning I did go for a ride and with point at 5, it was so chilly and pleasant, I brought it down to point no 2 . My experience is this M49 gas is more effective than earlier R12.
