Maruti Alto VX (1.1L) AC Problem

Let me start by saying that the refrigerant levels are fine because I get good cooling while it works.

The problem is this - the colling switches off after a few minutes. I then shut off the air con & then start it after a few minutes & the cooling will work again for a few minutes & then switch off.

The blower works all the time - even when the cooling shuts off.

Earlier I would be able to drive about 50Km before the cooling shuts off. Not any more.

Help! What is the problem part?

Check the cooling coil itself.

I suggest you have a look at the temperature gauge when the aircon switches off. Cooling being available for some time and then going off is a sign that the car or atleast the compressor discharge temperature has gone beyond max setpoint and the compressor is tripping on High Pressure. This is also characterized with a longer cooling period when the aircon is switched on in cold car condition followed by shorted cooling periods. If you have a overheating car, the engine will also lack acceleration when the aircon has stopped cooling
