Honda has compromised on Amaze in terms of build strength.
But it is the second highest selling (only behind the ubiquitous Dzire) for many months now and that says a lot.
People don't care
They just go by the brand name - a Honda sedan! that's all
And for a common man, test drive is all about pick up even in 2015.

Ambassador bumpers are neither modern nor scientific. And they do more damage than protect during an accident

You have a point here

Bumpers of new cars need not be and should not be weak and they are not supposed to break.
Its all about the right material and ability to take the impact so as to protect the car/occupants as well as minimise pedestrian injury.
Broken or sheared bumper can lead to additional injuries to the pedestrian.
I have two instances involving my car.
In one instance at a traffic signal, a truck hit my car from rear (it was a slope and truck driver could not control). I heard the sound and when I turned back truck was reversing and they signaled nothing happened. Later when checked there was only some scratches in bumper. Bumper took the impact, bent inside and then regained the shape.
In second instance, in a junction a new Terrano hit my car from side (t boned). Terrano bumper got twisted and broken. My car took the impact and no damge other than a dent without any scratch or paint loss.
At least the design team who were responsible for Tata Manza had taken care of these aspects and they did not opt for a cost cutting in those and I am happy about that and my car.
