Although you can do it but it isn't advisable. In case you are thinking that this will increase your top speed then be ready to get disappointed, your top speed will be decreased and so will be acceleration because you will end up altering the final drive ratio by reducing the net gear ratio and in turn the torque multiplication too. This way you will end up decreasing the acceleration and top speed altogether and even fuel economy can also take a hit given that fact that engine will run on higher load as the effort to rotate your rear wheel will increase.
