Hi Guys,

This is my first post in this forum and have already searched before creating this topic.

I have a bolero DI Refresh (non a/c and no power steering) model done about 60000 kms.

Some time back it started moving towards left side while driving on a straight road so gave to the ASC with regular service.

Thought it was happening because of wheel alignment so got it done but even after service the problem was the same so, again gave it back at service center. Now, they mentioned that they have checked suspension but there are no issues with it whatsoever and changed some (4 number bearings) parts as they were not sure if it was causing the problem.

So again they gave it back to me telling the problem has been rectified. Took it home but the problem was still their. So, again took it back to them and after keeping it for one more week they are now telling that they have checked all the service related issues and have given the car in accidental repair saying the problem is with chassis of the car and it is displaced buy half an inch.

Now they are mentioning 8500/- as there labor cost for mantling and dismantling the car and 900/- for sending it the outside guy from which they get the chassis done plus about rs 4500/- for that guys cost including there 25%. Total comes to around 13000/-.

Need some help here friends. What could be the issue?

Where do you live in Punjab? Please get your Bolero checked up with another Mahindra ASC before falling for this. Does the vehicle has any accident history? Did they check the camber, toe, and steering rack? Are all your tires inflated as per the recommended psi? Can you remember any incident with the vehicle after which it started pulling to left?

Got it checked in chandigarh and no I donot remember any incident/accident which could have lead to this. They are mentioning they have checked everything that the service department can check and they have now given the care in accidental repair section.

Get it checked from some local mechanic or other A$$ centre. this is a big trap it seems.
Can you recommend any good car mechanic in chandigarh/mohaki/panchkula region.

sb_25:Was the Bolero used in tractor pulling or a tug of war with a tractor or tochain as it is popularly referred to in Punjab?

Have you used the Bolero to pull anything or to tow anything?

If has the chassis is not straight, you will have alignment issues.

What did the people at the wheel alignment shop have to say about this?Have you checked with any other wheel alignment shops other than the ASC?

Are you using stock tire or have you upsized the tires?

Using stock tyres and no have not checked with any other person or shop.

The ASC service center have shown a record of the wheel alignment which was done when I had given it for first service in August.

Get the alignment checked at tire shop.See if the issue gets rectified, it should cost around Rs300.Also get all the wheels balanced.Wobbling wheels can cause handling issues.

How is the tire tread all around. Can you see uneven wear on the tread?

Have you been inflating all the tires with the same pressure? If not get that done as well.

first do an alignment. chances are uneven thread pattern. difference in air pressure, also check the wheel bearings, check camber and caster settings. since you have a new chassis, check whether there is any alignment issues in chassis mounting

Well is this with your hand on the steering wheel? or when you take your hand off the steering wheel ? I read one of your earlier posts where you mentioned that DI does not come with power steering.

It does sound scary!

Wow full chassis replaced? Cost?
