2 Dead, 11 Injured as TNSTC Bus on Mad Run Rams Motorcyclists
Two motorcyclists were killed in a gory accident near Guduvanchery when a TNSTC bus rammed vehicles after it’s axle broke while heading to Tiruchy on Monday. Eleven persons, including bus passengers, were injured.
The bus belonging to Villupuram division of the TNSTC was moving in the service lane of the GST Road at Srinivasampuram near Guduvanchery when its axle suddenly broke.
“The front wheels of the bus came off and the vehicle was totally out of control. It rammed three motorcycles moving ahead and hit the railing separating the highway and the service lane. The bus halted only after moving some distance,” a police officer said.
Raghunathan (21) and Prabakaran (31), both residents of Guduvanchery, who were riding motorcycles, were killed on the spot. Another motorcyclist, eight bus passengers, bus driver and the conductor were also injured.
The accident took place at around 11 am and traffic was affected on the road for nearly two hours. There were 30 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident. Many of them escaped unhurt.
