M.O.T. Stands for Ministry Of Transport. This test is to keep any vehicles driven on the road in a roadworthy condition. The MOT test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. It isn’t the same as having your vehicle serviced and doesn’t check its general mechanical condition. In this a list of the parts of your vehicle will be tested.
This test is for the vehicles more than 3 years old and the vehicle must be
1) Properly maintained and;
2) At least once a year are examined at an authorized MOT test station to make sure that they comply with certain important requirements of the law
Remember- the test certificate relates only to the condition of the testable items at the time of the test and should not be regarded as evidence of their condition at any other time; nor should it be accepted as evidence of the general mechanical condition of the vehicle.
In general, if the vehicle fails in MOT test, you will be issued with a VT3O certificate stating the items causing the failure of the MOT test. If your car has failed and needs work doing on it, you’re allowed one free MOT retest – as long as your car doesn’t leave the MOT test centre.
For some failure points, such as emissions or headlight aim, you can take your car elsewhere to be repaired. You will still be entitled to a free partial MOT test, provided that you return to the original test centre before the end of the next working day. If you fail to return in time, you’ll have to pay the full amount.
If you don’t trust the garage you’ve chosen, you’re free to take your car to a different MOT test centre for a second MOT test – but you’ll have to pay the full fee. If you require full MOT testing service and necessary repairs.
