- Chennai Bangalore Trip. I made a 650 kms round trip to Bangalore last week end.
Route: Tambaram-> Manimangalam-> Sriperumpudur -> Wallajah -> Old Madras Road -> Whitefield (People also call this Chitoor route).
Start: Friday, 11th Jan 2013, Running time 5 Pm to 12 Am, with 2 breaks of 15 minutes each.
Return: Monday, 14th Jan 2013, Running time 1.20 Pm to 7.50 Pm, with 3 breaks of 20 minutes each.
Total distance covered: 650 Kms (325 x 2)
Load: 4 people in Car. Approximately 290 Kgs with luggage.
Chennai -> Bangalore Mileage, 18.1 Kmpl, 85% AC. AC was on until we realized that the outside is cooler than inside when the Hosokote Highway Toll started.
Tough part was the night travel. Not able to go beyond 60-70 @ 2nd and 3rd gears due to vehicles (Mostly Trucks) coming in the opposite side and looooong trucks that needed to be over taken and the ups and downs in the road.
Sad part was, even the cars that could reach upto 150-160 kmph crawled in the traffic till hosokote highway toll roads. Its completely 2 Way from Wallajahpet till 4 way roads start at Hosokote highway toll roads.
Maximum speed achieved was 105 Kmph. I was cautious about ensuring that it should not reach the limiter.
Bangalore -> Chennai, Mileage, 23.76 Kmpl, 100% AC. There was very less traffic due to Pongal holiday and we cruised always around 85-95 kmph.
Total toll Paid: 50 rupees (25x2, to and fro)
* Adequate car for 3 people & Luggage for 2 days vacation. Nothing more than that.
* Luggage Space
* Road noise
* Rear seat comfort
* Bumpy ride
People in the rear complained about body pain due to the angle of the back rest and no thigh support.
Any option to bring in Indica's rear seats or modify the angle of the back rest & and add thigh support to rear?
