My cars (eon and grand i10) were affected two times in the flood. During the 1st flood the water level was about below the seat height level. The eon was in good condition. Only the carpet was needed to dry. So i plan to clean the interiors once everything was dry. But the grand i10's stop lamp got short circuited. To avoid battery discharge i disconnected the terminal.
I demanded for the RSA to check if the vehicle was in driving condition or not. But the service people told me that i should not drive the vehicle even if the engine starts. They want me to tow the vehicle to the service center. Finally i towed my vehicle as they told and drop it at the service center.
The SA told me the repairs to be done which includes oil/oil filter change, fuel tank and fuel filter cleaning, drying floor carpet etc As they want to change the oil/oil filters etc i told them to do the next kms service as my vehicle has only few kms for next service due. The cost estimation given was 10500. i didn't claim the insurance as it will take too much time due to the flood and also as i m going to sell the vehicle soon i decided not to make any claims. 2 days later the SA called me and told that the clutch had a problem which needs to be replaced. The cost has been raised to 25000. I realized that i made mistake. Now i can't get the insurance claim.
I got my vehicle after a week. The airbag warning lamp was indicating a failure. The SA told they had placed an order for that.
Next day again the water sources starts to overflow and the rain was heavy. This time i had taken the vehicle immediately to the higher ground level. But the water level was two and half times more than the previous flood. It was about 5 1/2 ft. Both of my cars were badly affected.
Now the cars were at the service centers. Got the service appointment by strong recommendation.The insurance survey was completed but still the repair process is not yet started.
Meanwhile I used my relative's Chevy beat for my daily travelling.
Then the scorpio comes !
i did a 250kms drive in the next day of delivery and soon i got the control of it. I love the view from the driver's seat. Initially i had a trouble in shifting gears. Later i found it easy with some practice.
The bonnet feels taller than the previous model scorpio when viewed from the inside (i like it !) . As just like everyone said the reverse camera was neither bad nor good. It is of Ok quality. The exterior paint finish was not that great , especially at the plastic side claddings where i could able to see the orange peel defect. On the inside the biggest trouble was the lack of storage. I cant able to find a good place to keep my mobiles which were larger than the holes provided on the centre console. The seats along with the armrests (7CC) do offer good support to driver as well as the passengers. But i cant find it comfortable to drive with the armrest in position. It is best to buckle the seat belts , the passengers at the rear are thrown forward and hit the front seats due to momentum when the brakes are applied suddenly. The mobile phone holder at the rear door is totally a waste. It can't hold today's smartphones also that hard plastic rubs with the passenger's knee and causes pain in the long runs. The third row is decent for two medium size persons. The seats can't able to recline back further which i really misses this feature.
Overall i am satisfied with the purchase of the car also i got most of my requirements.
