Tvs star sport ownership review(green goblin)
Hi , guys I am Prasanth Krishna from Coimbatore
I own a tvs star sport 100cc
After many miles of adventure I am writing this review
Specs
100cc / Mileage 75kmpl / Power 8bhp
Motive of manufacture = city commutator

Highlights:
Sporty look compared to any other 100cc bikes
Good handler compared to passion and splender
Softer seats
High class mileage !!
Photo0062.jpg

Performance:
Just 8bhp but should appreciate tvs for the wonderful durable bike
They have done lots of quality improvements from old generation(gearbox)
Good throttle performance
Good low end torque and mid range power
Top speed – 80kmph, at odo 10k I got 100kmph,after modification 110kmph

Handling :
Good grip at corners
Shorter wheel base, so more control
Nibble in traffic

Service expenditures
5k interval = 750Rs in tvs service centre,
Else outside 400 labour and 200 for oil
Used mineral oil in 3k gaps, till now engine is silky soft
Default petrol - Indian oil with petrol add-on(nothing but extra premium petrol)

Economy

75 kmpl before I got my TVS Sport modified (will discuss below), after modification I did get 85kmpl

Ownership experience :
I bought star sport back four years for my dad, at 2009
But dad hardly use bikes for his commute where I used bike upto 90% of kms
Initial experiences where good , I felt good VFM package for 48k, throttle response was great compared to other hero folks, where I finally understood tvs did have longer 3rd and 4th gears for cruising and increasing top speed, at 2nd day of purchase I topped 80kmph easily without strain from engine before my TVS Sport modified, I always shift to proper gears according to speeds, at 5000kms due to some harsh highway drives, I got head valve “tick tick” noise, after valve tight I never got it till now (no mileage drop)
At 10k , I used to top 100 so I decided to make modifications

Modifications made :
#1 Tyre upgrade
From- tube 3.00-17
To – 100/90 , ceat sport tyre(increased wheel diameter)
Main modification
#2 Front sprocket 13T to 14T

Advantages:
Mileage +10kms, top speed +10kms
Don’t forget to watch my top speed video below!!
Sprocket from tvs star city 110cc
#3 hid lit for head lamp
Higher visibility!!

THIS WAS MY TOP SPEED BEFORE MODIFICATION
TVS Sport ES top speed - YouTube
AFTER MODIFICATIONS:
3rd gear max 80kmph
4th gear 110kmph
tvs sport top speed 110 kmph (14 T front sproket ) - YouTube

Hi,
Nice write up. How about the service in Indo shell now a days.
TVS were opening many showrooms and braches for the same dealer in many places around Coimbatore. But if they care about Service, it would be a great advantage for them.

I think they sell bikes in many places with INDO SHELL name, but they will service in their main branch only,
indo shell service = 4/5 stars, have correct equipments to service, even one hour quick service is there, you can wait and get the vehicle by booking in hour service,
there is a ph.number which i am not sure, but if you call and book for one hour service, they will allot you a time and you can service it in an hour without extra charges!

- What went wrong with the Front Tyre?
- Silencer bend rusting is something common [frustration] Get it done with heat resistance paint.

BTW I had Start Sport earlier, used for 35k and then sold her

i changed front tyre from 2.50 to 3.00
bad idea!

I always reccomend stock size for front !

Now bike is having awkward handling while turning, but now i am used to it, but if others take it for a ride they are scarred to ride, but still i can lean at speeds 70kmph in curves. [lol]

Good to see your bike performing well.
I agree to all your points, except the Handling part. Both the Stars(Sports and City) dont really handles in the league of Passion/Splendour/Discover 100M. But its much better than Platina's. Except that, every thing else is perfect in the bike.
I had a 2006 Star city(>85K Odo), which I exchanged for a Jupiter last month only. It was such a wonderful bike. I changed the engine oil at every 2500 kms. Once rebore was done at 75K kms. But never it complained on any long rides of 200-250kms.
Wish my Jupiter performs the same way.

that's nice to hear, yea other bikes handle well but not splendor, i have it few years before. Its a thin bike and it has less dynamics, where sport i can take to twisty roads and hills in just a swing of arm

Congrats for your Jupiter .
