40K Service Report
I took a day off and finally got this done : 40K is a critical milestone and required a full service (major). Basically includes replacing all fluids (except differential and transmission) - i asked for power steering fluid replacement as well. I asked especially for bleeding all 3 critical units - Brake, Clutch, Steering. Additionally Fuel filter, air filter were also replaced. AC filter was pressure cleaned.
Also cleaned up the brake pads - i think i might set the record for brake pad endurance on Pajero sport - done 40K on original pads so far and probably good to easily do another 15k -20k.
I asked for EGR and throttle body cleaning (though i think its included in this service) - also requested for clutch release bearing clean up. Some photos attached. Total Damages a whopping 21k
:- Which i think is OK for the job done except for brake bleeding and cleaning which was charged unusually high - but have agreed to revert that the next time so that will be 3k benefit for next time. I think 18K is more likely a fair price(for a Mitsubishi) also accounting the fact i used liquid gold(read as synthetic oil).
The car felt 15% better , especially the throttle body cleaning and air filter change make an immediate impact.
All in all a very fulfilling experience, the car continues to be phenomenally boring(reliable) and i am now touching 41k and 3 years completed. Its out of warranty now officially and it doesn even least bother me. The last 3 tankfuls were upwards of 13.5kmpl for my driving with the peak being 13.81kmpl on a tankful.
Some anecdotes from the Service Centre reassuring me of the Pajero reliability :-
1) Oldest SFX is a 7lakh run vehicle - no engine overhaul yet, clutch replaced thrice, timing belt twice.
2) Oldest PS is a 3lakh km run - no problems whatsoever apart from routine maintenance.
Also renewed Insurance - continued to keep the zero dep offer IDV at 18Lakhs and premium was 30,764 INR at the end of the third year.
