I got to know from Wikipedia and Jarpickle that M800 Carburator is a double barrel Carb. So there would be two butterflies. The first butterfly (small one) works whenever you use the throttle pedal, the secondary butterfly opens only when engine is in high RPM for quite sometime. A clever piece of engineering indeed. The secondary butterfly is vaccuum actuated and the bell shaped thing in the carb is the one which opens the secondary butterfly. The mechanical connections are such that the secondary one will not open unless the primary is atleast 80% (min) open.
I had painted the tank and forgot to upload the pics.
Today after thinking a lot and having a few discussions with friends and my trusted Auto Parts shop, I skipped the idea of buying a throttle body for the existing carb and instead bought a brand new UCAL Carburator (non AC) from J.K.Automobiles. Brought it back home and fixed it to the inlet manifold and poured about half a tumbler of Petrol in the smaller barrel and cranked a few times, hurray perfect idling, took it for a test drive and topped up the tank with 500rupees petrol.
It was a tough decision to take as month end is approaching and I am already cash strapped, but then I am addicted to spares, bills, car, thinner and credit card
The minute I saw the new carb, I was drooling looking at the super clean aluminium alloy colour
Cost of Carburator: 4.2K
I was fed up of answering everyone that the car has a new heart but wont run, finally I am at peace :D Still these things are pending -
Gear Lever and Oil replacement
Wiring issues to be sorted out for Fuel indicator, fender buzzers etc
Zen brake booster mod fit (last thing to do) - I am already skeptical about the chassy strength in this car. I doubt if the car would last for next 5years without major chassy work like Apron etc. Hence priority is to sort out only major issues and get FC, document transfer done. Things that will never be done to this car
1. Strut Braces
4. fancy wiper blades
5. Repainting the car
I have done the mistake of spending too much on a car and not using it at all, so this time some looong drives are in the pipeline, if I do manage to save some money, yes a 4digit trip is likely to be done in the coming months. Fingers crossed.
For now the carb pics
