and raise my SPIRIT.

DEALERSHIP and Sales Experience:

The whole process was very smooth as everything was planned except for the underbody anti rust took a while at the time of delivery. I had done pre delivery checks and the 3rd car from a fresh stock for which I had to wait for 2 weeks somehow chose me. Then finalized on the car took the VIN and chassis number locked it made the down payment with cheque.
This down payment included my 3 years of PF Money Remaining money by selling my SANTRO + my savings) at this point I was a beggar. Then went to bank HDFC and directly spoke to the regional manager and got all the paper work done for the loan and also got an insurance at a very good offer with the same bank and my memory was erased what all happened after that day as I used to have day dreams.

The D-Day:

I and my uncle took a bus to Concord Motors. I was very keen going in bus as I thought I might never get into BMTC or any bus again.

Free Accessories provided: Car mats, 3M Under body anti rust coating, Full body Teflon Coating, Reverse sensors unit with display, central locking. Opted for 2 years ownership maintenance rather than 4 years as I already had plans on getting it into a better circus (performance place).

Reached the launch pad by 11:30 the vehicle no my asset was ready and some last minute things were getting done. But they forgot to do the under-body coating (think it was on purpose) then a little request and then a strong tap on the shoulder they started the coating and we were getting our bellies coated as we were hungry. Somehow the time was getting close to sun set and finally there came the newly born beast ready to be tamed and looking for its owner. Meanwhile we got all the Pooja stuff required and finally all the four fresh yellow lemons were crushed in one shot and finally felt like one episode of my life was over. Then the first full tank was a gift from my uncle.

LIKES:
0) If you have watched the movie AVATAR.. ( I literally felt and feel like TORUK among IKRANS).
1) The sheer size and road presence and luxury.
2) Very effective suspension and eats anything on the roads. Its favorite meals are pot holes.
3) Steady Drive and almost null noise from the engine compartment.
4) Macho Man at Office and home and neighbors and co-drivers on road already started getting jealous.
5) Respect on road when honked for way.
6) The view of surroundings from the car is very clear.
7) The feel of pull that you get when the turbo kicks in and the vehicles gradually disappear from the ORVM.
8) With 8 people in the tank never touched any speed breakers ever. GC is really amazing.
There are many but will keep it short here………….

( BAD-LIKES):
1) Turning radius in the city and can never be U-turned in most of the areas.
2) AC was not that bone-chilling but effective. (Rear passengers)
3) Steering not very accurate.
4) Single Din player – just hate this as even Altos have dual din these days.
5) Interiors are great but not that eye catchers.
6) Yes some krrr..krrr… rattling noises here and there occasionally.
7) Worst off all – Head Lights from stock sucks not at all recommended for high way.

MANITENENCE:

SERVICE 1: KHT Motors (Kundanahalli)
ODO: 1300KM
I insisted for engine oil change on my personal expenses rather than top up.
Coolant, Brake / Clutch Fluid, Battery Every were checked.
Check for the wheel balancing and was fine and all the electrical were fine.
Here the customer experience was bad and I dint feel like staying there and talking to those people. But I was allowed to the service bay and that made me happy.

SERVICE 2 & 3: KHT Motors (Kundanahalli)
ODO: 6000KM & 17000KM
Engine oil and other fluids top up and again the routine check ups.
Sedimentary was glowing and found out that the sensor was changed – Works fine.
The rubber beeding had slipped a little at one of the doors and was fixed again.
Air Filter was cleaned.
More or less the same issues of rear door rattling etc and patch work was successful.
By this time I got to know a safari specialist closely and he is the one who attends all my queries.
Had visited this place many times and was welcomed and I felt like a family.

SERVICE 4: KHT Motors: (Kundanahalli)
ODO: 32000KM
I had been to Pondycherry and somehow got stuck at the sea shore and there were few tractors that came out for rescue and had a big hole in my pocket for the first time. As said human error

All the necessary standard changes and top ups +
Checked wheel alignment & balancing, chassis height +
shock absorber, bushes & steering damper bushes, replaced +
Rear link rod assembly was changed (I have the old one and I use it to work out my arms sometimes) +
brake pads & rear brake linings replaced
Clutch plate was changed.

I haven't mentioned any expenditure here since i always felt her as my wife:lol!:

Now here are the initial pictures of my Ride (Till 6 months back):

I will be posting the pictures tomorrow or day after as i need to do some editing.
Meanwhile i could not resist this one [evil]

jayadev: I am sorry not sure why there was a problem. I am including the pic again,
Thank you for the inspiration of this team and instant reply from co-posters which made me to write the following:

STATIONARY Warning: Time Consuming
DETAIL Report : For people who believe time is precious but still can’t resist the emotions

Movie TRANSFORMERS – Part1 there is a scene where the kid goes to buy his first car and he is told “ Look son a DRIVER never picks the CAR it’s the CAR that picks it's DRIVER” I used to think that it’s funny but it’s a real fact. I felt it right from my childhood. I am sure everyone would have felt the same.

There will be one car each of you feel Special about and go through the below emotions, Start aiming to own , with whom you feel you can talk,
Felt her as if shes your reflection in front of a mirror,
keep staring and still feel that you have just got a glimpse,
your heart skips a beat when she passes by,
just keep talking about her though you have a time-bomb next to you,
spent sleepless nights with friends and families (if lucky) just talking about her,
felt offended when someone talks ill about her, - I have gone through all the emotions

Whenever a SAFARI passed me never mind at schooling in shorts,High School, College, Degree dint matter I used to become like a monkey when shown a banana. A piece of iron without impurities in-front of a magnet .

In automobiles when we talk about INDIA it is always TATA who are completely home and self-grown. India is land of variety and for any variety SUV is always a best option as it can challenge any circumstances. Safari is a home grown beast which evolved as a wild rugged to a magnificent tamed beast in our own hands.

MODEL: TATA SAFARI DICOR 2.2 VTT Lx VTT(MFL):
This was called as (Minor Face Lift) variant which were newly introduced . Frankly speaking the only different between the previous variants were they gave a freshly and good looking Beige interiors even for the low variant. Also the ORVMs with the integrated indicators. This was very neatly done and looks very very impressive. The new ORVMs were big like elephant ears when compared to the old variants which looked like a trimmed blades.
It is Technically, Economically, Artistically, well balanced in every aspect for an Indian customer. 2.2 DICOR in the heart, 140horses in the shoes, Diamond like strong body, Suspension as you are traveling on clouds.

Personalization. Safari is just not a car it’s a blank canvas paper which will try the owners to make an artist of you. If you not interested in art then just your REG No on it will make you an artist. I think this is one of the very few cars in the world the designers have thought lets make a car in such a way that anyone does anything it should just look good. Mini Cooper is one of them. Also I think this car can never be ugly in any angle.

I always feel that I am committed now. We always say BEAUTY with BRAINS is always dangerous.

After the above cosmetics of safari body shell let’s talk about the heart of it.
1998 - The SUV was first released with a 2.0 litre turbo I4 Diesel engine.
2005 - Cosmetic changes which included the addition of a new 3-litre DiCOR engine .
2007 - 2.2-litre Safari DiCOR was launched and shortly replaced by 2.2 VTT. I am sure there cannot be a better heart that this. And there are load and loads of data on internet for Einsteins who like Stats, Graphs, documentation, formulae, experiments etc

I think enough of words and I will share my marriage oops car album of my Black-Knight:

That was a nice report for a nice BEAST (Oops! car)
The car needs new alloys. If you also plan to change tyres, try downsizing the alloys and getting wider and bulky tyres! I have seen a white safari with downsized wheels, will post a pic if possible.

Sigh!!
Buddy first question, how can a person have so much love in his heart for a car? I have read hundreds of Safari ownership reviews and being true only the ownership reviews of of two cars "Tata Safari" and "Mitsubishi Lancer/Cedia" are just irresistible. I mean the reviews of these two cars always come straight from the heart of the owner. There are less numbers and more words and even more emotions.
After reading so many reviews, some are filled with fancy words and some are filed with a lot of emotions, but my dear this is the best Safari review I have read till date. I read it thrice and rating it a well deserved 5 stars. Simplistic language, no fancy words nothing...but it looks straight from the heart.[clap]

WISHING YOU UNLIMITED HAPPY MILES...

@ BK, I have similar passion about SAFARI .

Safari is one car , love about which can not be lost due to poor experience of dealership. And TATA also seems to believe this fact.

I am also serious safari lover of safari with beige interiors , but difference between you and me is that you have successfully upgraded from a hatch to a national SUV, and I am not.

Many TAI ans say that TATA should set seperate TASS for pvt.passeger cars and cabbies, But I expect at least separate waiting lounges at preexisting TASS so as to keep the prices of the cars within reach of buyers like me.

By the way, Why there is differnce of 15k km between two servicings (17000\32000)?

The first pic is best pic of a Safari I have ever seen. Congratulations for the safari and this thread too.

@ Tornado.

In between I had just changed Engine oil once hence did not mention. Thank you for reminding.

I understand that TATA should do something like purple membership kind of a thing from Mahindra. A separate helpline and a different set of employees who are technically sound. What I have seen is Safari owners are technically sounder than those at TASS. This is a fact and I am not sure why TATA is not realizing the urge to give a better service.
Talking about the price I understand but I guess its the best cheapest big car that can be bought. As said I think the blind love made to just hit the Yes button to buy. After that its been two years and still I am in the same state of mind as the day1 i got her.

All the best buddy for your dreams come true.
