| Re: First Drive: Ford EcoSport Test Drive Review Another Ecosport toppling report from Facebook. People need to drive this vehicle sensibly, not like a hot hatch ...
And another instance where Ecosport got stuck in a waterlogged road, whereas even M800, i10 and other cars made it through ... Quote:
Dear Ford,
I have purchased a brand new Ford Ecosport on 27th August(delivered). Today while I was returning home, travelling back home, there was water logged due to rain in the road abt 250-300 mm max (Haldiram Airport Kolkata) and the car got stuck in the middle of the road.
It was a very busy road as its the airport connector, all other cars including small cars like Maruti 800, Alto Tata Nano etc went through without any problem at all. It was really embarrassing to see that a so called mini suv was stuck whereas small hatchbacks were passing without any problems. It was a major security concern as I was with my Mother and there were some street teenagers who surrounded the car and wanted money to push the car off the water. Then I had to pay then Rs 1000 to do the same just to push about 50 m on the flyover. Then I called Road Side Assistance immediately and they came in after 2 hrs and even the toe car driver was surprised how a car can get stuck in such a normal water logging (atleast in that area),no doubt rest of Kolkata was water logged today.
Even my brother's i10 passed over the exact same road with out any problem at all after some time. But he did mention there was another Black Ecosport which was also stuck there in the same place I was stuck.
The car was Toed to the Ganges Ford Service Center near Park Circus, where it was handed over to Mr Bhaskar the Plant Manager. He then called me and said that water had gone In the engine from the FRONT. He also mentioned that he will check it on Monday and let me know if it will be covered under warranty or not.He mentioned the engine may have been Ceased. I am really surprised how an Urban SUV with 200 MM GC and 550 MM water wading capability ceases with abt 300mm of water. I was really not happy with this statement as it was not at all my fault and I really do not expect such a statement from a reliable and global brand like FORD. Instead of comforting and supporting me he make me more worried. This is the first time I was worried since almost 8 yrs for my driving exp with Hyundai and Maruti.
I would really request you to please have some expert from FORD India look into this case personally as to tell you honestly I really do not Trust the Service Workshop people as they are looking for different ways of earning. I really need the car for my daily commute to office which is about 20kms away as I travel late nights mostly after 11pm.
Just to let you know I am one of the first pre bookers of the car. I am very new to the Ford Family.
Thanks

| i have driven my ecosport 1850 kms with in one week
covered from bangalore to thanjavur and rameswaram and then palani
driven on surface such as highway, bad bangalore roads, beach sand and even hill climbing roads
have driven and break'ed on different speeds varying from 40 to 130 kmph, it never shows me any sign of loosing road grip or toppling
few are born experts in toppling any car
as i said earlier still am telling the same even the small nano can survive longer than 25 years if it is on the right hands, and the best car on worst hands get dead in months
am not betting that you can't topple ecosport, but any car can be toppled if it was driven by a person whose head unit is vacant or unused. before driving any car one should know - who is driving it (know your limits, i mean ability, remember am not Michael shoemaker)
- what you are driving (what type of car, know your car remember its limitations "dont try to overtake a old yamaha Rx100 with your pulsar 135)
- where you are driving (know the road or surface or place you are driving remember the limitations "in your family innova car Dont try Ken Block Stunts on ooty hairpin bends"
many of us never accepts their mistake instead we always blames it on the machine invited by one among us
mr natwar's car lost control and crashed on the tree....the fact is the car is under the man's control, and the man who driven the car lost his control on it or maintained the car in such a way it goes in uncontrollable fashion

With each passing day there's a negative review of this car. What's the status of this car now? Is it still at service station or what ?
Today I visited my dealership for delivery status of my car. The Executive was confident for another price hike in January.
Vibes are so negative . I feel like dropping my plans to buy Eco sport.
The craze of a latest and a good looking car will fade with the time but it's durability and trouble free ownership we all wish for .
A good looking mini SUV
vs.
Long waiting , uninformed feature cuts , no price protection, callous dealers , Poor reviews , overpriced accessories , limited service network and on and on ..
Is a FORD product really worth it ? |

I am not planning for a tyre upgrade not because of the cost involved but because of the fact that my ride is mostly in the city and for occasional long drives. I don't do serious off roading either and honestly don't think the Ecosport is capable to do it. Also after riding the car now, I felt that the car was well planted to the road. I don't have any complaints about the tyres for now. I'll be posting a ownership thread where I ll put in these points. |

That was me whos post you have posted from FB.
Hi All,
My Ecosport got stuck in water in hardly 300 mm of water. I had to wait 2 hrs for the service truck to come and toe my car. The workshop guys are saying that the engine is ceased and that it may not be covered under warranty. This happened on Saturday. I will go there with my friend tomorrow and see what happens as the work shop was closed. The works manager also said that water has gone in from the front. How can water go in the engine as its all concealed. They are saying the cost maybe anything from 20,000 to 1,00,000. I am extremely heartless right now.Its a diesel by the way. Can anyone please suggest what to do or guide me?
In the meantime I have written a mail to MD. Below is the mail

Thanks | Hey Anisin
I m really feeling sorry for you. You were one of those who kept our spirits up while we were waiting for the car.
If you have any lawyer in your family take them with you and threaten to sue both the dealer and company for selling false promises about the vehicle. You can tell them that while advertising the 550mm of water wading is highlighted but even the manual does not approve it and it does not help in real life situations like these. Tell them that that you will sue the in the consumer court and also look at filing criminal cases against the company.
But it will be nice to take an experienced lawyer with you. That will show you are serious |

Just wait and let some expert Technician diagnose the problem. U may not need to pay a single pai. Ford has to attend the problem and clear it at the earliest.
We all pray for u. Keep us updated. |
