my perspective of the TD.
the colour on the display car was looking great. no 2 ways about it.
the ride was plaint on low speeds on bad roads. yes better than scorpio.
that could be attributed to softer suspension setup or for the fact that the storme is a heavier vehicle.
the doors felt robust. the feel of the doors felt they are strong.
upfront very much likey.
no offense meant but the older safari looked like a tired face for me. in that aspect a definite thumbs for the front design.
2) driver ergonomics. one word :flawed.
the steering just kept hitting my thighs a lot when pedal was not pressed.
it is ok when pressed, but then in stop and go traffic my left knee is going to hurt a lot in the current setup.
normally too while driving the storme , i had to veer my knees away at an angle to avoid hitting my knees on the steering wheel.
that felt awkward for me. do not know if that could hurt my knees in the long run.
tried the seating in aria , i could not find an explanation why they could not incorporate the arias steering in the storme. it felt so much better in ergonomics.
maybe i have become used to the mHawk, so i felt it a bit slouch to move.
there is definite lag, which i very much dislike. others might have not felt that or maybe i have become accustomed to pressing the pedal on the scorpio a bit cautiously. in the storme i have to force the issue.
NVH levels comparable to the scorpio of the engine, there is a audible engine clatter at low revs, comparable to the scorpio.
i cannot compare the improvement to the safari since i had not driven the safari to mark it as an improvement or otherwise.
low speed ride was better.
body roll: it is a UV. so it will behave as a UV.
do not expect the handling characteristics of a hatch, a sedan. it will roll.
seating at the back row.
the shape of the side profile meant that seating 3 on the middle row, i felt it lacked shoulder room. that can be attributed to my large frame.
opinions may differ, but i felt more at ease in my scorpio for the shoulder room.
will post more details soon.
