| Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review I missed one thing from my notes in the review, the Chrome tipped exhausts of Storme aren't exactly "tipped" , as you can see from the image below, it remains floating behind independently of the chrome on the plastic part of bumper.
The owners should keep a check on this if it heats up the black plastic area on long runs and also eventually as your exhaust mountings bushes give away (with time and age coupled with our bad roads as its the case with most vehicles) it shouldn't rattle with the bumper.
More of a case of caution than anything else. |

| Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review Well, these days the exhaust pipe is not mounted on rubber mounts. They are welded. SO its safe to assume that it wont start rattling.
My sumo Grande has done 45000 kms, in good/bad/non existent roads and even in mars and moon, and there are ZERO mechanical rattles. NONE of the mechanical parts are loose, not even doors. YES some plastic interior parts, here and there, are talking to each other. AND I believe...sumo has been the test bed for the double wishbone front suspension set up. That eventually found its way into Storme. |

| Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review I have a sumo as well that's done nearly 3 lakh kms , so coming from experience , again i didnt mean it will cause rattles, i meant owners should keep an eye. |

| Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review I really do not see that rattling will happen in this case, but Yes that heating of the exhaust pipe may create some impression on the plastic part around it when it is driven for long hours. We really need to see in future that how that plastic part behaves with that heat and what is its quality |

The hot gases exiting the pipes will not deform the plastic, as it is not concentrated on a point. BUT there will be soot accumulation though |

but if you take care this with constant check of engine timing, timing belt and most important your drive style you can control amount of black smoke as a result of incomplete deisel burn. |

| Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review Update: I have paid the down payment today and GOT A DISCOUNT OF AROUND 8OOO RUPEES. Here is the story, i book pearl white Storme LX on 23rd December and after some days i came to know that i can opt of insurance of my choice. I called my uncle who works for New India Assurance and he quoted me rs. 29000 for the insurance. Today while paying the amount i told this to the SA, he later on called the insurance guy who was telling me that their showroom will not entertain cashless insurance. I simply told him that if your showroom will not entertain cashless then i will go to some other workshop in case of a claim. His jaws dropped and went inside to a room. While i was at the cashier room paying the amount minus insurance that person came again and tols me that he got the approval and will give me the insurance in 29500 . I then selected their insurance and got a discount of around 8000. Tomorrow will submit the receipt at SBI and will collect the DO and will take the delivery on Monday. Accessories that i have choosen from the showroom are:
1. Fog Lamps
2. Reverse guide system. BTW is Teflon coating is a good thing to opt?
Please share your thoughts. |

| Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review Hmm, informative story Mukesh, yes it is very common these days at showrooms forcing customers for the insurance they tie up and it is always very costly when compared outside. You did a good thing and Rs.8000 is not a small amount, I wish all the members who are going to buy their new ride be alert on this insurance aspect.
If showroom fellow talks about teflon coating it is waste of money and time and at times I have seen with bad teflon work, the paint finish become dull. So if you want a real teflon coat, then go to a place like 3M and don't expect that it will last for years, atleast these 3M people will tell you the correct duration that how long teflon effect lasts and they use really good material and workman ship is perfect. So visit a 3M car care exclusive near to you for that.
Is that reverse guide system is equipped with camera, then go for that it will be very helpful to you when you drive such huge beast |
