Hello ,

finally managed to get this beetle from a good guy from chennai. now that i start to make it perfect the distance and availability of annual leaves are the killer factors.

and Mr.Pavan seems to be busying himself only for lucky Bangalore beetle owners :).

for the moment, its upto fix a wheel hub, steering wheel logo, vw mud flaps, body chromes...i also feel the engine needs some attention as im aware its getting too hot before it halts...

Heartiest congratulations! If there's a classic car I'd someday love to have in my garage, it's definitely the Beetle. This thread is going to be an interesting read. Keep us posted. [thumbsup]

The fuel pipe that you are using is unsuitable and could also cause a fire. You should use the black braided type. Somebody seems to have fitted a Fiat carburettor, I hope that it is jetted properly. I think the original fuel pump has been substituted with an electric one, a good idea would be to introduce a fuel return line which would help a lot

thanks vu2gte. im thinking of changing the fule lines. i agree with u. yes its a fiat carb..the problem i have is the overheat...an expert from mumbai said the pulley should be fixed to a electric fan. im trying to figure out if the fan is running all the time for the 1968 or only during the engine start (as per the mechanic in chennai). for the moment im convinced that there is some mechanical alteration required to keep the heat down. as i live in a area where the parts are plentifull, my prob really is the engineering(dont have any beetle guys in chennai) who can advice me which part is required to make it really fit.

ok some more pics :)

Car is looking in stock condition except its painting. Hope all the parts are available online for this car to restore back to original shape.

im not convinced of the engine condition. decided to send the motor to bangaluru to aircooled mater - pavan kadam :). I hope when it returns..he is able to drive it all the way from bangalore to chennai - no break downs or excessive over heat :) and looks more chrome and stock

Someone who obviously has no knowledge has put a locally available alternator. The original dynamo had a fan at the rear end which sat inside the black shroud. Your car is a potential fire bomb the way it is now.

Vu2gte! your finding is correct. This is what made me lost hope on the local mechanic an move the car in a truck al the way to Bangalore where this is a bug specialist. I wish we have someone here in chennai for that. Im not lucky.

It's Goa registered. Any idea who the original owner is? Also it has new registration. So must have been originally been registered somewhere else. There use to be a lot in Goa. Not anymore.
