SHELL LUBRICANTS ENHANCES TRUCK DRIVERS’ AND MECHANICS’ HEALTH WITH FREE HEALTH CAMPS

Enhancing ‘on-road’ safety with a focus on driver health across India

New Delhi, October 06, 2018: Shell Lubricants, the global market leader in finished lubricants, is committed to ensuring the holistic development of its driver partners and mechanics. Reiterating this commitment, Shell Lubricants has organised free health camps across India, for drivers and mechanics to educate and sensitise them of the importance of being healthy and safe on the road. This initiative is in line with Shell’s larger vision of inculcating safety and a sense of well-being in drivers and mechanics, which in turn positively impacts the society.

With this initiative, Shell has ventured beyond metro and tier 1 cities like Delhi, into smaller areas like Noida, Agra and Kanpur. It has further attempted to reach out to more remote areas such as Naraingarh, Pipli, Saha, Kheragarh, to encourage the driver and mechanic community to get regular health checkups for better driving performance.

Attended to by experienced doctors, they were also provided with free medical advice based on analysis of their body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, sugar level, and other vitals. Having achieved the aim to impact over 26,000 lives across India this year, Shell’s health camps in 26 cities have encouraged drivers and mechanics to monitor their health through regular checkups and improve their health for optimum on-road performance.

This initiative by Shell witnessed immense success, with strong turn-out and participation at camps conducted at various Transport Nagars and auto hubs across the country. These were conducted over a period of 7-10 days in each city.

Ms. Mansi Tripathy, Country Head, Shell Lubricants, India, said, “We, at Shell Lubricants, believe that the health and safety of our valuable partners is at the centre of all our operations. We aim to improve the well-being of our driver partners and mechanics by educating them on the best healthcare practices while also giving them access to regular health check-ups. We thank all the doctors and volunteers who have helped make this initiative a huge success.”
