Delhi was not so long ago, nominated the city as having the most highest level of the airborne particulate matter- hence the most polluted city in the world.

Delhi has the highest level of the airborne particulate matter, PM2.5 considered most harmful to health, with 153 micrograms. Not far behind is another Indian city, Patna with 149 micrograms. These figures are six times what the WHO considers a "safe" limit -- which is 25 micrograms.
Now comes another report and not surprising since it is linked to the above distinction.

Delhi has more cars on the Road as comapred to the combined population of cars in 3 cities - Bangalore+ Chennai+Mumbai.
Delhiites shop for cars that show off wealth. Bangaloreans trade in their wheels faster than anyone else. Kolkatans are the most budget conscious
Delhi, wealthy buyers prefer big sport-utility vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz M-Class. Toyota’s hefty Fortuner SUV was in high demand as well, which may help explain why traffic is getting so bad in country’s capital. Delhi had 2.2 million cars in 2012, more than Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai combined, according to India’s transport ministry.
