Excise duty increase post Dec 31st -What this means to us?
1.Small hatchbacks such as the Maruti Alto K10 are expected to get dearer by around Rs 15,000

2. Premium hatchbacks and sub-four-metre sedans such as the Hyundai i20 and Maruti Dzire may see a price hike of around Rs 27,000.

3.SUVs such as the top-spec XUV500 and Totoya Fortuner could get dearer by around Rs 45,000 and 75,000, respectively

4.Full-size sedans such as the Toyota Corolla and Skoda Octavia are likely to get pricer by around Rs 35,000 to 50,000.

Effect on Excise duty change.
Hyundai
The retail price for the entry-level Eon has gone up by Rs 15,400, for the i10 by Rs 21,500, for the Elite i20 by Rs 27,000 and for the Santa Fe SUV by 1.27 lakh.
Honda
The entry-level Brio is now dearer by over Rs 15,000, the Amaze sedan by Rs 19,000 onwards and the City by up to Rs 48,000.
