To my fellow TAIgers...

Just wanted to share my experience and alert your guys to beware of what ebay is doing on the back-end.
If you're not satisfied with a product and raised a claim. Do not accept the refund as coupons. If they force you, Just strictly say NO to that. ( It is a recorded conversation over phone. So be strong with your point and say it multiple times. )

If you say OK or YES to that, They will simply close down your claim and never send you the coupon. You cannot open your claim again. They will give you enough excuses to make you crazy.
One of the top standard reply "We have forwarded your issue to our concerned department. You will get a reply shortly "

IMPORTANT:

1. DO NOT BUY product that strictly says "Manufacturers Warranty" without contacting the seller for written confirmation for "What if the product you receive is DOA ( dead on arrival )"
If the seller is genuine. You can expect a reply as "7 days return policy". if not, you are screwed. Which means, If the product you received is in damage condition out of the box. You need to carry it to your nearest service center.

2. BEWARE of duplicate sellers. This means, one seller under different names. This is a official playground strategy on ebay for sellers. They just create numerous id's and surprisingly all of them are power-sellers. Always check their email ID or phone number that is listed on the product description page itself. I found some sellers are stupid enough to use same email ID and phone-number under different ID's

If you're purchasing above 500 - 1000/- rupees. Kindly beware with ebay terms. They will strictly fall off from your side if the product is mentioned as "Manufacturers warranty" And if the seller doesn't give you that " 7 days return policy "

If anyone else got scammed by ebay or had negative experience. Feel free to share.
Let everyone know about this idiotic sellers and worst ebay support.

Dtron.

Re: Ebay India Scam - Share your experience.

Are you aware a real scam called honda civic scam ? They use olx now to lure customers to a plan to cheat .(Just like the nigerian bank/cocacola /pepsi/bank scams)
In olx they will put an ad for an ultra cheap civic for sale. When you contact them (only through email) they will say its through ebay car and you have to transfer half the money to UK bank! Then only you can see the car [surprise] .Upon verifying the car you can pay the next half.
Attached ,pic of the ad .
Anyone can try and find out.
Or just check 2006 civic fraud in google.

My experience with ebay was smooth I ordered a pair of led parking lights they were delivered late ( around 15 days after placing order i got awb number ) after installation i got a shock 3 of the led were not working so i left a negative feedback with a comment . The seller called me within an hour or so apologised for faulty product and dispatched new pair same day .

Re: Ebay India Scam - Share your experience.

It depends on the sellers. Some sellers are kind enough to approve the refund or refuse it. Depends on their mind-set and way of doing business. Some sellers don't care the heck of customer satisfaction. Here is an example...

This seller is kind enough to approve my refund request. But yet, the claim specialist from ebay refused to refund the payment as real money. Cause, the amount is less than 500 ( which I understand. ) Instead they promised me to offer the same amount as coupon. So I can use it on any other purchase. It's literally like a e-voucher. They closed my claim and its more than 30 days now and no email or coupon. I keep getting excuses. The seller did his job to approve the refund. Yet they refuse to pay.

On the other side...

I bought a brand new [sealed] Microsoft optical mouse from a power-seller called "markinfotech". The product was DOA, when I un-boxed it. I contacted the seller and seller refused to refund or replace the item and wanted me to take it to the service center. I was like What ? you sent me a dead product and how am I supposed to take it to the service center ? It's DEAD ON ARRIVAL out of the box.

I raised a claim through ebay and the claim was closed automatically because the seller mentioned "manufacturer warranty" So, I need to take it to the service center and refused to refund or replace.

Later I issued him a negative feedback to warn other buyers, But he got it removed by ebay.

Seriously, If you go to a show-room / retail-store to buy a product and if it is dead out of the box. Would you simply accept and take it to the service center ? Without even using it for a second.

This horrible rule should be excluded from ebay to save some buyers. Because of the word "Manufacturers Warranty" This idiots are taking the advantage to push their defective products on customers.

Next time, If you purchase anything on ebay. Get a written confirmation from the seller about their return policy. Even if they've provided in product description. Just message and ask them via ebay private message. ) That is your proof when dealing later with ebay.

These sellers are good enough to edit their listings as well. But they cannot edit what they've messaged you.

This is why Flipkart is 100x better than ebay. Their policy is way better.

I have ordered for DRLs, Vinyls and many other items from eBay. I got the products in 5 to 6 days max and the quality of the products was also good. I usually read all the reviews of that seller before buying. If he is getting too much negative remark i simply search for an another seller. [;)]

Re: Ebay India Scam - Share your experience.

Had several purchases from Ebay.in, luckly never encountered any fraud seller.[surprise]

Only two issues so far.
*Once Shipping got bit delay.(Was not a serious issue for me since I was not in hurry)
*Two"1watts led integrated with heat sink" out of 5 where not fixed perfectly and failed after few hours of its operation. Informing the issue with supporting pics helped me to get 6 1watts led as compensation even without requesting for a single piece.

So never knew such issues with ebay, anyways thanks for the information. Next time I will be more careful.[:)]

Re: Ebay India Scam - Share your experience.

My Sony NEX 5R (Rs.35+K), 6 Lenses, Tripod, Battery + Charger, ND Filter set, CPL filter, Lens Holder, E-Mount cover+cover cap, some swimming accessories, many $1 worth of items etc were ALL bought from e-Bay's india and Global site w/o any problem. I always choose a seller with 98% or more positive feedback score. The transaction is smooth and items were always delivered. When in doubt about the genuineness (the Picture normally reveals), I asked and seller would frankly admit it is imitation. Stay clear. IIRC, three times I didn't receive the item. Sellers would plead with me NOT to ESCALATE to eBay; twice they had resent items and once money was credited back to me.

In a nutshell, eBay is safe for e-Buy-ing, as long as buyer checks seller's rating.

Well, I trust eBay because of their customer service. If I find any good deal on OLX, I ask him to put it on eBay because then I'll not be scammed.

I have had good experience with eBay so far. I generally go for a seller with at least 95% positive feedback and feedback score above 200 +ves. Also check for recent feedback and specifically for the item being brought.

Beyond this, its all luck...

But I agree that the real test for customer service would come only when there is an issue and I have had issues only when shopping with flipkart so far (mainly due to the fact that my 80% of online shopping is from flipkart) where my experience has been average to good but not bad certainly.

As a general guideline:
1) When shopping from flipkart - prefer WS Retail seller
2) Amazon - go for Amazon fulfilled items
3) eBay - seller rating above 95% with sufficient votes
4) Snapdeal - go for "sdfulfilled"

I bought Nikon D5200, Nikon 35mm lens, Sony Xperia L, some other stuffs related to car. I also insured seller has more than 98% positive feedback. All of my transaction were smooth and I got product well before promised dated of delivery, in nice packing. So, fortunately my experience with Ebay is very good. Most of the time I applied discount coupons also and got benefit from that [:)]
