How Does Central Air Conditioning Work
Air Conditioners | Air Conditioning Units | Carrier - Home Comfort
Central Air Conditioning | Department of Energy

Can we have a Single Air conditioner unit - Heavy capacity Ton
in a Residential House located outside in a Balcony and the cooling air is distributed through ceiling carried in ducting
or piping media method ?.

For example : 4 Room Residential House - 2 Bedroom, 1 Hall room and 1 Kitchen room.

Now cooling air will flow throughout the House from the ceiling ducts/pipes.

In this case we will have four remote controls for each unit in the ceiling duct where we can switch on/off individual unit
Or
Can we have a single remote control which will control all the four rooms temperature i.e. 1 Hall room, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Kitchen room.

The Normal way which we do was purchasing 4 AC units and installing all the four units in all 4 rooms. There are four remote controls for each unit installed.

Is this possible to design this type of Central Air Conditioning System for Residential Houses ?.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi

I did some research on this. Please look at VRF (variable rate flow) systems. those are like inverter ACs and depending on requirements (load) work at different rate (tonnage). so a 10 ton VRF can easily handle 5-6 indoor units which are good enough for a 250 sq yard covered house.

Depending on your budget, these can be attached to central water heating, builg management system etc etc

however i did not go ahead. installing individual ACs was coming out to be a lot cheaper for me.

The overall cost for putting up a central air conditioning system to a residential house would be much more costlier then choosing up individual air conditions for each rooms.
The loader, compressors along with the in unit would be much more costly.

For our country, central A/C will not work in terms of cost, maintenance, usage and constant availability of electricity. We have habit of selectively using A/C in selected rooms in selected timings. Central A/C will consume more current than a normal one and is not required nor economical if all rooms are not being put to A/Cing at the same time at constant durations. Also maintenance wise, it is bit cumbersom and timeconsuming too. And given our attitude for minimizing expenses, cental A/C will look like a big burden.
