We live in Bangalore.
What is a procedure to get a fancy of one's choice for a new car?
How much cash will be needed? (Keep in mind, we are influential & honest. No under the table kinda stuff)
Will it involve having to wait for some time?

Yes. I sure will, while getting the new car registered. I just wanted to get some info in advance to be prepared.

In punjab, the auctions start from 2.5 lakh(for some ordinary numbers) and go upto 25 lakhs(for good numbers like 0001)

@ AMG The rates posted by you are for exotics like RR i believe.

From what i know single digit numbers like "1" , "5" cost somewhere around 30k and for other numbers like "0369" , "5555" , "9999" it must be slightly cheaper. I guess the rates change with cars because i remember somebody mentioning in this forum it costed huge to get a fancy number for some Bmw car. For i10 it must be relatively cheap i think.

Once when i chat with a Linea owner with a single digit number he said he paid around 30 k for getting it. Its the rate in Chennai i guess.

Dhaya - Thanks for the info.

To be more precise, You can get basic fancy numbers for 10K in chennai (5566,8877,2244)

If you want it to be more fancier (9000,8055,6666) Then you have to pay 40K.

And any number with single digit is based on availability & it goes up few lakhs!

NOTE: All the prices indicated above will change based on cars to cars & based on your negotional skills

In Tamil Nadu it is 5000 for cars upto 4lakh value and 8000 for others .I know it because I paid 5000 for our santro 7666 is the number. For very fancy numbers and single digit numbers 30k and an approval from a local minister .[frustration]

We won't need approval from someone., IMO 30k for a single digit no. is not bad, I thought it would be much more.

I might be going for 1313 for our ACTIVA, if it is available!

The number you want can be purchased prior to the registration of the vehicle, but it is valid for only 30days. If within 30days you fail to regester the vehicle on that number, the number will be sold to another customer, else you will have to pay again for one more month's validity.

One of my dad's friend has got the number 1313 in his three rides:[glasses]
MH 01 XX 1313 Pulsar 200
MH 01 XX 1313 Unicorn (silver)
MH 01 XX 1313 Unicorn (black)

Another friend brought a white Innova with the number MH 43 XX 1313! I was a bike's series, so had to shell out more money. I will find out and share the details about the rates later!
