If any car maker in India is blasted left right and center is tata motors limited . But is it just a fact or fiction ? This thread is an attempt to cut the crap and differentiate between fact and fiction and who can do it better then tata car owners which are quite a few on our forum .
The point is simple members who have owned tata cars in past or having 1 currently can post their small mini testimonial here .

for example

1) car model and variant
2) date of purchase
3) Kms travelled
4) build quality
5) coustomer service experience ( good ,bad, worst or excellent)
6) a.s.s experience ( good,bad,worst, or excellent)
7) warranty issues
8) if the car has been vfm
9) issues and niggles faced so far
10) satisfaction levels (-/10)

The attempt here is genuine , most of the time if some one decides to buy a tata car he is advised most of the time not to buy one from some one who has never owned a single tata vehicle in his life .
This thread can be a live testimony to prospective car buyers to decide by themselves whether to go for tata cars are not by reading testimonials from real tata car users rather then market perception and hearsay .

Please - members who dont own a tata vehicle are allowed to ask questions, clear doubts and other queries but must not write a testimony since they are not eligible to write one since they don't own one.
The purpose of this thread is to create awareness, share information and get true factual experiences from tata car owners about owning one . Please refrain from making this thread a battle field by getting into brand wars .

So tata car owners common bring it on your Honest ,unbaised and true testimonial here will help other interested car buyers.[:)]

Re: Tata cars - ultimate reliability thread from tata car owners

A very good thread Raja,I must admit. If anything add a poll asking TATA owners whether they are satisfied with their ride or not.Got to add your reputation for starting this thread.

Now back on topic:

I am happy/proud owner of Indica XETA since last 5+ years. When we were looking to buy a spacious hatch under 4 lakh rupees everyone suggested us to keep away from TATA petrol cars. But we had full trust on Mr. Ratan Tata and his company and we took the gamble.Well since then it has been pure bliss even though our overall mileage has been very less.

Now on to your asking points:

1. Indica XETA GLS

2. June 2007

3. Approx 10,000 kms

4.Superb=no rattles

5.Good

6.Good

7.Not claimed yet[:)]

8.We feel so

9.Just recently a rat cut few wires and none

10. 10/10

I can simply touch my heart and say that it has been ultimate joy owning a TATA vehicle so far and I have stated all above points to the best of my veracity.

I did nothing other than those mentioned in the service manual, Just made sure that the recommended quality oil is used and the service intervals are followed strictly with required regular parts change.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that out of those cars I have owned only Tata Indica 1999 was the car whose engine was rebuilt once. Rest all have been on stock engines.

Re: Tata Motor’s Cars – The Ultimate Reliability Thread

Nice thread Raja. This is seriously required to clear the bad image which is falsely created.

1) car model and variant: Indica Xeta GLS
2) date of purchase: Aug 2007
3) Kms travelled: Approx. 15k
4) build quality: Strong
5) coustomer service experience ( good ,bad, worst or excellent): Excellent
6) a.s.s experience ( good,bad,worst, or excellent): Excellent
7) warranty issues: No

9) issues and niggles faced so far: Nothing major. The cigarette lighter point is not working. One power window gets jammed sometimes. Need to check.
10) satisfaction levels (-/10): 10.

Re: Tata Motor’s Cars – The Ultimate Reliability Thread

Although I dont own any TATA car, sorry to sneak in between the thread.
Going through the replies I found that most of people owing TATA cars have given satisfaction levels more than 8 and few have satisfaction levels as 10. This shows that TATA cars are not as bad as what other people out in India thinks. Just that people don't want to come out of mentality of buying Marutis.

Re: Tata Motor’s Cars – The Ultimate Reliability Thread

1) TATA Indica V2 DLS
2) 25th May 2001
3) 1, 40, 935 kms
4) Build quality: Body - Good, Plastics - Average
5) Customer service experience - Good
6) A.S.S Experience - Good
7) Warranty Issues - None
8) If the car has been vfm - Truly
9) Issues and Niggles faced so far - Engine noise when stationary, road noise on poor tarmac in the cabin is high, Poor driving position (steering, seat and pedals). Blown out heater coils (no biggie), Blown out radiator fan switch (again no biggie).
10) satisfaction levels (-/10) : 8.5

It may sound a bit odd for TATA bashers, but over the years, never-ever has the TATA car stranded me. What i mean to say is that the car is truly VFM. In 2001, we wanted a spacious diesel hatchback. Indica V2 DLS was the best option. It was never bought with an intention to give me the best driving experience, rather to carry me and my family from Point A to Point B with comfort and minimum expenses. That is exactly what it is doing since 2001. The mileage in the city has never dropped below 17-18kmpl with 100% AC on. Stating that TATA cars are "UNRELIABLE" is quite an exaggeration. All I have done since 2001 is that I have religiously changed the lubes at regular intervals and required regular parts as on the manual.
I would like to thank Ratan Tata for manufacturing India's first VFM car.
