Dad said lets try innova.
I told him the price OTR close to 15lacs.
He said its too overpriced.
Are we supposed to pay that much for a van?
I too acknowledged that and said even An xuv is cheaper than an innova.
Then i suggested the aria.
He asked me " you mad son"?
Who in the sane mind would pick up an overpriced innova for 18L+?
Then i mentioned that there were some discount schemes going on.
To that he said i guess they now know their "layaki" means "worth" in marathi.
Dad's friend has a year old safari which is lying at the A.S.S from 3 months.
For a company who cannot produce a decade old car sans defect what do you expect with Them with QC?
So Then asked his views about the XUV.
He said he is not optimistic about it since they are in his words "compromising " on safety by using plastic along the wheel arches.
Since the bookings were closed in dec i did not insist much about XUV.
I went along first for the initial query about the scorpio and he had come along only during the booking of scorpio.
When he saw the XUV at the showroom he was pretty much excited to see it in flesh . He almost had made his mind to book the XUV instead of the scorpio.
I had to convince him to wait for a better product since it was rumoured then that the future XUV 's are supposed to have twin turbo and much better power output.
The point being from such a long post that the image of a Tata car into the A.S.S every now and then is quite common and hence Tata cars do not garner the same respect as M&M Atleast in mumbai.
incidentally there was an aria standing opposite to the M & M showroom . He found the looks of aria pretty boring.
With all due respect to your dad and his view . I have another story here to tell
We have a man comming in the gym in black aria , I asked him his review he said it is a amazing vehicle and you can buy it with closed eyes. I asked him why he didn't go for xuv he said ohhhh no that xuv is ugly and gives a wannabe look and what else you can expect from a tractor making company , I hate mahindra cars after owning a Scorpio vlx which I sold in 8 months because half of the time it was in service station mahindra are cheaters .
Let me give copy paste another example from another forum which you too visit here it goes

Congrats on your new set of wheels !!! It looks smashing on the streets.
But i feel grossly for the problems you have mentioned, so much for having paid truck load of money. I had one of the Mahindra vehicle. I sold it for 50% of the price within 4 months of buying it. It was a disaster.
i always did feel that these guys build vehicle to sell spares and extort labour charges. I always felt that mahindra made more money by way of selling spares and labour charges. Most of Mahindra vehicles come with inbuilt issues. No wonder, i see the service center overflowing with scorpios, so much that they would have parked the vehicle outside on the service road on hosur road.
if i was you, i wouldnt have accepted these problems you have mentioned whatsoever after paying up so much money. What do you intend to do about these issues ?
You never get your money worth from Mahindra. This was true in my case and also with one of my close friend.
All the best.
Now what you have to say ? I gave a contrary example about mahindra and tata.
Look owning a mahindra car and going biased for it is natural , but disrespecting another company when your favorite company is no better then them is called fanboyism .
