Well Let me Start with the my views the exterior does make the car look much more butch compared to the current gen (personal opinion as looks are subjective to individual taste)
The model which was there is the VXp 4X4 that is the top end variant.
The hood is slightly raised from the center and the hood is very straight and is not sloping forward like the current gen safari giving a more upright feel.
The rear door without the wheel is does not look bad but there are many who will not like the safari without the wheel personally if it solves a problem then it’s just fine you will get used to the look.
The rest Raja's review is spot on
The doors are nice and heavy gives a very nice feel while opening and closing.
Coming to the interiors the Dash is very clean sober very up market i cannot compare it with the VW twins as i have not seen them but yes it is a leap ahead from the current gen safari with soft touch material on the dash gives it a premium feel. The instument cluster seems carried over from the current gen safari.
Sitting inside i felt no different in the driving position or the seats compared to the current gen safari my uncle happens to own one of the 2.2 DICOR so i have driven that a few times.( I just sat inside as a test drive was not possible before the launch)
Seats felt a bit more plush as they were leather seats but not much different
The dials on the dash for the aircon and fan controls were good smooth nice to operate but the space looked empty if you see the attached pic there is more space between the Single Din and the controls. This made me feel they could have done a better job maybe space for a 2 din system.
The second row is as comfortable as the current gen safari with the same aircon vents at the bottom but the fit and finish is very nice. The integrated blower on the roof gives a better view of the front from the middle seat of the second row.
Overall i believe that TATA has taken the good stuff from the current gen safari and upgraded all the problematic areas of the current gen as this project has delayed for over a couple of years after the first sighting of this car. Though a thorough test drive and long term report will only tell if TATA has succeeded or not.
