Ask yourself,do you believe that this vehicle has the potential to beat XUV-500 at the mentioned price?Sorry,I don't!!
Why?The reasons are as mentioned below:
In India interior quality does not matter to customers to that extent.
In India fit and finish also does not matter that much.
It's the features that counts and even the W6 XUV is also having more features than the Storme top end,I guess!!
The jump seats will always be a disadvantage. If I'd have to buy a seven seater then I'd go for an Innova and after that an XUV and after that an Aria but not a Safari and in case I need a five seater then I'll do for a Yeti then an XUV and then an Aria and after that Safari.
Last and most important:I am still doubtful if Tata will be able to provide such a fantastic gearbox as we have in XUV!!And its the gearbox which makes a lot of difference,at least in terms of performance.
Workhorses are always boring my dear!!But sadly,MARKET LOVES WORKHORSES..
MY dear I am going to pick a fight against you now!!BTW
,these words are at least 50% applicable on me!!
Buddy, before Tata and M&M start following a fixed standard,at least until then you will have to live with the hatred of hearing how Toyota car proved to be a better work horse as compared to Tata and Mahindra!! @Singh:
You are spot on the Toyota point and its a fact that their cars sell on the name.BUT..that name also comes after a lot of effort.I'd say that if their cars are selling despite being overpriced then this is also an achievement!![/QUOTE]
@ vipul - agreed to some extent it can't compete with xuv with such prices . But rest all you'r logics which you have presented are purely subjective .
Who says Indian don't prefer fit and finish ? What Is the use of features in a car if fit and finish is not good . And what kind of features do people exactly use on daily basis that are actually usefull in real time driving ?
What makes you think tata can't make gear box as good as mahindra ?
When tata can make a tech wonder like nano , making a gear box is not a big deal for them anyway .
People who have driven the strome are infact across the board saying that strome has mind blowing acceleration .and the head of r& d for mahindra mr dhabar is with tata now who as personally worked on strome .this is not something iam assuming its a known fact to every one .
You buying a yeti , or a Innova over a strome is purely subjective thing it dosent in any case represents the choice of entire population . We have manmeet our memeber who has booked strome over a xuv , Innova and yeti does this mean people only prefer strome ?
About Toyota , what kind of workhorse you are talking about ? On 1 account you say features matter in India right? Toyota gives you zilch features allways .
Toyota on name of reliability are selling peanuts in rate of almonds . Moreover some people think since it's from Toyota the peanuts are not peanuts but almonds made of gold .
And which cars from Toyota other then Innova and fortuner are selling great tell me please ?
Mahindra and tata are getting serious about their act .
and comparing that toyota makes car from 1936 i would say they have zero innovation and mahindra and tata in their relatively short period as car makers have taken some remarkable steps .
Even in the USA and uk there is a saying buy a " Toyota for your dad and mom not for you "
In my subjective opinion Toyota cars are for uncles and aunties , I will buy a Toyota only for my dad never for myself ( but again there is a problem my dad feels Toyota are very boring to look cars if you want to buy 1 for me buy a cruze or fluence atleast or a civic but please no Toyota .)
to be honest I for one would allways prefer a manza and verito over the extremely cheap , boring , highly reliable and equally dull etios . Iam ready to go in service center practically everyday buying a mahindra and tata car rather then driving a Innova or a etios .
Even now the ex model of safari has 1 and half lakh difference over the lx model , so how can we be sure that the strome will only have 50,000 difference .?
Maybe tata will just launch the ex and vx model now and later launch the lx model who knows ?
Scorpio sales more only because it has a ex model which is mostly bought by taxis iam sure you must have seen a lot of taxis with ex badging .
Safari was never and will be never positioned as a taxi , take it or leave it .
I here belive in dharmesh and Gurralla words not because they make me feel better but they have a sound logic behind their post that the info is just from dealers and most of the time dealers are experts in guess work before their launch.
What will strome do we will wait and see .
