+100000 for your analysis of tata safari since its inception to its current avatar . And yes you are right the quality control of safari till date has not been outstanding and it's potential is/was untapped which tata motors should have done agreed no two questions about it .
But if we look closely to the evolution of indica to vista , indigo to manza and the aria the progress made by tata motors has been quite remarkable . And people in good % have been happy owning a vista and manza and even the cute nano .
Tata motors spend a good amount of time in the segment of hatch back , entry level sedan and the nano and then aria for past some years . The product which was completely neglected was the safari .
which we now looking at the current safari can call as mistake or blunder too .
Strome is a chance for tata motors to repeat the story of drastic improvement from indica to vista , And indigo to manza .concerning quality and finnese and reliability in large.
How far they have been successful will only be known to us when the product launches .
People who have seen the strome ( let's not go far let's take example of iron rock here ) are even saying that interiors and the quality is top notch infact better then aria .
People who have driven it like our memeber T_ in_ gene and others from differnt forums are saying there is a tremendous improvement in how the car drives , handles , the throttle response and the way it delivers power .
About features till now whatever we have seen looks bare bones keeping today's consumer choices in mind agreed .Have they incorporated something extra then what we already know ? we seriously don't know nor we have any concrete information about it via latest leaks or scoops .so predicting it at this point of time is just guess work .
Since we don't know the complete picture , assuming something if it will work or not is actually a exercise in vain .
In what price braket tata launches the strome is yet to be seen and every wise buyer will decide if it's worth the price to what features it offers .
( if tata prices it great and the overall vehicle is great many people will readily accpet it and give reason and present logic why a single din is actually better then double din . Yes human nature is strange and unpredictable )
Tata not launching the vehicle and the anxiety and bashing behind it has origins in our own anxiety , expectations , and eagerness to expreince the strome in metal .Tata has not yet committed any dates from their side officially which they have skipped so technically we can't blame them .
There is a lot amount of testing going so we can just assume and hope that they are trying to make it as perfect as they can or who knows they are having issues with vendors concerning parts and quality and quantity .( if they use high quality stuff price goes high then we bash tata , if they use not so great quality to keep price down then again we bash tata ) so maybe they must be following some kind of strategy to deal with any kind of problem or hindrance which will be allways unknown to us until and unless some tata official in the strome team comes and explain us which IMHO won't happen ever.
Nobody knows for sure as of now why there has been a delay , again delay is assumed by us maybe tata already knows when they are suppose to launch it and are going perfectly by their plan .their plan is wrong or right time will prove .
Sales of strome or if it will be hit Or flop , or if its a mindblowing vehicle and vfm
and how it fairs conpared to competetion will be only know to us after the launch of vehicle .
If tata has lost the oppurtunity or in cashed it, if they have learned their lessons or not will be only revealed after they launch the vehicle .
Deciding the fate of strome now ( hit / flop ) is not fair , not right and can be a childish excercise of assumption from our side .
Sales charts are decided by the market on various subjective parameters known to buyers , and buyers have become smart now " Indians are emotional not foolish " .
As auto lovers here we can only extrapolate what can happen ( worse or good ) .
And there can be two camps who can debate , but debate must be done gracefully the thread becomes interesting and can be some sort of objective guide for members and guest who visit TAI
. That adds value to the forum called TAI
and in return to its members for being part of it .
So let's wish tata our best wishes that they rise to a level which we expect them to be ,and a level which they are capable of , and give we Indians a product which we can drive with pride .
Iam not here trying to make you or anybody agree with me rather I would love your or anybodys thoughts on this even if they are completely opposite then mine .
My request to all following this thread is infact rather then being followers or bashers of a product , let's be auto lovers who discuss and extrapolate positives and negatives of a vehicle in question in a informative way which in return adds value to the forum TAI
of which we are proud members .
Iam just trying to put across that at this momment the ball is stil in tata motors court so let's give them a chance and see what they have to offer .
