Nissan will soon launch its Murano crossover SUV In India. Nissan which is currently selling Teana sedan and X-trail SUV is building a plant jointly with Renault in Chennai.Murano is powered by the same engine which powers the famous 350Z. The 3.5L 24-valve DOHC V6 petrol produces 265 bhp@6,000 rpm with more than 342.8Nm of maximum torque at 4,400 rpm. The engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission system. Another special with Murano is its real-time 4WD system. Unlike a separate 4WD system that allows for serious off-roading, the Murano’s intelligent system begins with a 50:50 split, which can move to either 100 per cent torque to the front wheels, or 60:40 and 80:20 split options during cornering.Murano will compete with Mitsubishi Montero, BMW X3 and Mercedes M-class.
Expected Price- Around 40 Lacs

This car is one of the brilliant design in SUV!

Murano looks smart enough & will sell like hot cakes because of its pricing!

The Drive Train & Engine seems to be brilliant to take the rest.

But we are really unsure of the comfort level & performance of Murano, because that is where Teana & Xtrail losts its game![cheers]

Great news Karthik!

The old generation Murano is one of my dream cars! However the new front does not seem to go with the otherwise macho looks(My personal opinion).

I like the old-gen Murano. The new one loses the charm IMO. Engine should impressive, as its from 370z.

Old model looks better than the new one

The old Murano looks better than the new one. The front grill is superb in the old Murano. Nissan designers have spoiled the the dynamic grill in the new one.

For Rs.40 lakhs it could only give tough competition to Montero and Prado because the people looking car as "Status Symbol" would still opt the Mercedes Benz and BMWs.

An update here - Nissan may launch Murano in October 2011, Probably as CKD unit. The model will be available in four trim levels: S AWD, (new), SV AWD, SL AWD and LE AWD. The crossover will come equipped with the VQ-series 3.5l DOHC V6 engine, good for 260 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The unit works in conjunction with systems already fitted by Nissan on most of the lineup, including Xtronic CVT, Intuitive All-Wheel Drive system, standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS).
