Went to Capital Honda located at Meenambakkam Chennai to have a look and test drive the Honda Amaze. Showroom Experience
I went on a sunday afternoon and the showroom had a few visitors checking out the amaze. The car looked very good from front and ok on its side profile but far better than its nearst competition Dzire. I am not a great fan of its looks( no offence meant to the owners and likers ).
I found no one to attend me for more than 15 minutes and finally a person came who never looked like a sales representative after my repeated attempts to ask for someone to attend, something which was least expected from a honda dealership
. Further, that person was not informed anything about the car and also he was not willing to tell anything about the car. I kept on asking him to explain about the car but he plainly handed me the pamplet and kept silent. Did not expect this from you Honda Test drive experience
Not willing to waste anymore time, I asked the 'so called' sales representative to give me the car for the test drive. He handed me the 1.5 i-Dtec Engined Amaze for the test drive. Started the engine and found it to be having more vibrations than expected and it was very evident inside the cabin as well. Quickly adjusted the seat to my convenience and got the best position to drive quite comfortably.
I slotted the first gear and slightly depressed the accelerator and it moved swiftly without any jerk. The test drive was short but had a mix of both traffic and free roads to test the abilities of the car. The steering was precise and moderately weighed to my taste at medium speeds. The turbo-lag was minimal but was easily able to find the boost of the turbo. Felt good with the pick up too as I depressed the accelerator almost fully in the empty patch of road I got after a signal. The brakes were punchy and effective. The AC chilled the front part of the cabin efficiently ( don't know about the rear seat area chillness though). One thing that was quite annoying was the cabin NVH. Honda could have done a better job in that part as it is quite annoying than expected. Because of that the stock music system could not be enjoyed though it sounded good for an OEM
After my test drive i went and sat in the rear seat and it was very comfortable and spacious for a Sub 4 m car and the seats offered good support overall. The boots were also very roomy at 400 l and its a wonderful job done by the designers of the car helping it have good rear leg room and a big boot.
Overall I felt the car was oozing with eagerness to throw it around with its 100 ps power with a good steering , punchy brakes and spacious interiors and it is a very practical car barring the NVH levels.
