At the IAA 2018, the globally operating supplier will present its latest product generation, which combines even higher performance with further improved efficiency. The highlight among the new products is the HDS generator platform, which is specifically tailored to the more stringent requirements of future vehicle generations and technologies such as autonomous driving.
Autonomous driving and connectivity will be two of the main buzzwords at this year's IAA Commercial Vehicles, alongside to the ongoing topic of efficiency. They symbolize a technological arms race that has shaped the industry for years: Increased reliability and safety while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption. The generator is crucial in this respect - after all, improved efficiency leads directly to fuel savings. In addition, the number of consumers as well as their energy requirements are increasing - from safety systems and assistance functions to convenience features. Even higher durability and efficiency combined with a significant increase in power (see info box) - these are the main benefits of the new HDS generator platform, which comprises seven power classes in two voltage levels. Intensive research and field trials have also led to further improvements in temperature tolerance. The HDS is the successor of the extremely successful HD generator family, which has been shaping the global CV market for over 15 years with its outstanding field quality. The HDS can be tailored precisely to the specific application with features such as long-life, off-road or corrosion protection. SEG Automotive, already best in class in terms of efficiency, is thus setting new standards for the performance of generators. The HDS generators will go into series production for leading OEMs as early as 2019.
Performance and efficiency no longer require a compromise: Classic Line Generator, HXF88-M Starter

Classic Line Generator
The Classic Line Generator is aimed at commercial vehicles that operate with relatively fewer electrical consumers, such as trucks in emerging countries (e.g., India) or more basic farming machines worldwide. It offers an optimal alternative to the heavy-duty line for applications in which the focus is on an optimized product without compromising robustness and quality.
HXF88-M Starter
In the product area of starter motors SEG Automotive will present among others the HXF88-M 24V. It is designed for the medium power segment and relies on a refined engagement system, which reduces the load on toothing of both the starter motor pinion and the mating ring gear of the engine and thus increases durability. In conjunction with the standard connection to the engine control unit, the HXF88-M ensures excellent and reliable starting of the diesel engine. Additional products with equivalent technology for the heavy-duty sector will be introduced in the near future.
