New Delhi, 3 August, 2018: SmartE, a startup that operates India’s largest electric vehicle fleet, has announced the expansion of its operations in New Delhi in partnership with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The service was flagged off at Dwarka Sector 10 Metro Station on 3 August, 2018 by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, who was joined by Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Mangu Singh and Co-Founder and CEO of SmartE, Goldie Srivastava. The expansion comes after the successful roll-out of SmartEs in Gurgaon and Faridabad where it already operates a fleet of 800+ electric three-wheelers.

SmartE has an ongoing partnership with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for over a year, and delivers 50,000+ rides to DMRC commuters daily. SmartE has served over 25 million pollution-free rides in the past three years since inception.

Speaking at the launch, Goldie Srivastava, Co-Founder & CEO, SmartE, said, “It is a proud moment for us today as we expand our operations in the national capital of the country. It underscores our commitment to make last-mile commute easy, safe, affordable and eco-friendly for everyone. We look forward to serving nearly 20,000 commuters daily in the first phase of the Delhi Pilot. We have over a year of successful association with DMRC, and are thankful to Delhi Metro’s leadership and Government of New Delhi including Hon’ble LG, Transport Commissioner and the Transport Department for their unwavering support,” he added.

SmartE was launched in October 2015 and has grown to become India’s largest electric mobility service company. As a pioneer in the electric mobility service space, SmartE plans to roll-out 100,000 vehicles by 2022. At 100,000 vehicles, SmartE will help reduce close to a million tonnes carbon emissions, equivalent of planting 17 million trees per year.

The SmartE electric vehicles which are completely ‘Made in India’ are equipped with state-of- the art features including GPS tracking and sensors and are designed keeping passengers’ safety and comfort in mind. The company has priced its service very economically with fares starting at Rs 10 for first two kms and Rs 5 per km thereafter. SmartE has partnered with PhonePe, enabling its users to pay for their rides digitally while availing exciting cashbacks. The company is also working on fully integrating the Delhi Metro Smart Card on its platform which will allow its users to seamlessly pay for their rides across the SmartE network with the same Metro Smart Card.

Apart from enabling last mile connectivity for millions of commuters, SmartE is playing a crucial role in generating thousands of sustainable livelihoods for a segment that has always found it tough to generate a regular source of income. SmartE today provides livelihood opportunities to over 800 drivers, helping them earn between Rs 18000 – Rs 25000 per month and thereby bring vast swathes of the unorganized drivers/unemployed youth into an organised segment.

As part of its Delhi Pilot, Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Ltd (REIL), a leading PSU, has helped set up the EV charging infrastructure along with SmartE’s energy partners, Exicom Power Solutions.

Some of the key features of SmartE are:

Last Mile Connectivity

Service to and from Metro/bus Stations/high-footfall areas

Hop-on, Hop-off service across short loops of under 5 kms

Captive large-scale parking & charging infrastructure

Safety & Comfort

Max 4 passengers at a time
