Kia has imported a number of its global models to India and is using them without any camouflage on public roads. It seems to have added the Kia Carnival to its fleet recently, images published by Team-BHP and GaadiWaadi have revealed.

The Kia Carnival was showcased at Auto Expo 2018 in February, but that was the pre-facelift model. The black-coloured and white-coloured units plying on the public roads are of the facelifted Kia Carnival that was introduced in South Korea in March. The updated model features tweaked headlamps, new tiger nose grille with a detailed mesh-like pattern, reconfigured bumpers, new alloy wheels, new tailgate garnish and tweaked tail lamps.

Unlike what some local websites are reporting, the Kia Carnival is not a Toyota Innova rival. The Kia Carnival is a much bigger and more premium product. The minivan actually falls in a segment non-existent in India. It goes against the likes of Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, and Chrysler Pacifica.

The Kia Carnival is 5,115 mm long, 1,985 mm wide and 1,740 mm tall. It has a 3,060 mm wheelbase. It is available in 7-seat, 8-seat and 11-seat versions. The rear bumper design of the units seen in the images here suggests that we are looking at the 11-seat version. Two engine options are available in South Korea: 3.3L GDI V6 petrol and R 2.2L E-VGT CRDi diesel.

The petrol engine produces 280 PS and 336 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is tuned to deliver 202 PS and 441 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Kia will enter India in mid-2019 with the Kia SP Concept-based premium B-SUV that will compete with the Hyundai Creta. This is the only model it has announced for our market so far. Recently, it was reported that the company is evaluating the Kia Carnival and Kia Stonic global models. Previous reports have said that a sub-4 metre SUV will arrive in 2020 and that the Kia Sportage could also join the line-up here at some point.

Friends,

We attended today New Suppliers Conference organised by Kia Motors India at Delhi. At the venue the 1st thing that caught my attention was the display area there and over there saw this Carnival MPV. The car was locked though so couldn't check interiors in detail. Adding the spec sheet too.

Kia Carnival MPV to come to India as premium Innova rival

The Kia Grand Carnival is a five-door MPV that is available globally in seven-, eight-, nine- and even a unique eleven-seat configuration. For India, the seven-seat version seems most likely and the focus will be on middle-seat comfort. Kia does offer a version of the Carnival with captain’s chairs for the middle row, with retractable footrests, and it’s likely this would be the configuration for India.

Kia Carnival video review: What more does it offer over the Toyota Innova Crysta!

Kia Motors has big plans for India and the company will launch their first model by this year. The first car in India by Kia will be a compact SUV based on the SP concept. However, what we are here today is for the second car that the Korean auto maker will launch on our shores. It will be the Carnival, a full size MPV set to challenge the supremacy of the Toyota Innova Crysta in India. In international markets, the Kia Carnival has been hailed as a pretty good MPV with a decent price tag. How it will fare in India is the big question because many international hits have not been welcomed very well here in past.

Kia’s second car for India after the Seltos will be the Carnival MPV. Now confirmed for an early 2020 India launch, Kia plans to showcase a mildly facelifted version of the Carnival at the 2020 Auto Expo, and then price and configure it in line with customer expectations. The Carnival is also sold as the Sedona in some markets.

The Carnival for India is likely to be offered with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel, sending power to the front wheels. The engine produces 202hp at 3,800rpm and 441Nm of torque between 1,750-2,750rpm. A 6-speed automatic is likely to be the gearbox of choice, though a 6-speed manual is also available.

In the pics, it definitely looks never endingly long. Tough for intra-city use; long higway rides will be very nice I guess

The turning radius will be over 6 metres (imagine taking u-turn like a truck)

India-spec Kia Carnival teased ahead of market launch

ImageResizer.ashx?n=http%3a%2f%2fcdni.autocarindia.com%2fExtraImages%2f20191220103928_Carnival.jpg

Kia Motors India has released a first teaser for its next product, the Carnival MPV. The India-bound Kia Carnival is already on sale abroad however sources tell us that the model will have India-specific styling and equipment tweaks. Kia will most-likely showcase the model to its Indian dealers sometime next month and will announce pricing thereafter a few days later. As the Carnival will be brought in as a CKD (completely knocked down) unit and assembled at Kia’s facilities in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, expect prices in the region of Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

Kia Carnival spied one last time ahead of launch next month

The Kia Carnival is in the final phase of its local testing in India. Recently, IAB reader Uchit Kumar spotted one of its prototypes on a test. The pre-launch promotions have begun, and the launch is set to take place in January 2020, about a month before Auto Expo 2020.

Internationally, the Kia Carnival is offered with features such as electrically operated rear-sliding doors, captain seats featuring extendable leg rests and armrests, UVO connectivity suite (also featured on Kia Seltos) and a rear-seat entertainment package with 10.1-inch screens, two sunroofs, a large-sized touchscreen infotainment system, three-zone climate control and a power-adjustable driver's seat with memory function. Not necessarily all the features will be available in India.

Kia Carnival bookings start unofficially

ashx?n=http%3a%2f%2fcdni.autocarindia.com%2fExtraImages%2f20200102122502_Kia-Carnival-side-black.jpg

Kia Motors India will soon introduce its second product for our market – the Carnival MPV – and position it around the Innova Crysta. A few Kia dealers we spoke to have confirmed that bookings for the Carnival have commenced unofficially at most locations, with the booking amount ranging between Rs 51,000 to Rs 1 lakh, depending on the dealership. While there is no official news from the manufacturer, dealers are promising deliveries of the Carnival MPV in the second-half of next month.

Kia Carnival India launch confirmed for February 5

zer.ashx?n=http%3a%2f%2fcdni.autocarindia.com%2fExtraImages%2f20200103030851_kia-carnival-silver.jpg

Kia Motors India has confirmed today that its new Carnival MPV will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo, which will begin on February 5, as we’ve been reporting. While the event’s doors will only open to the public on February 7, the two days prior are press days for select media only.

Expected to be priced a bit higher than the BS6 Toyota Innova Crysta (especially in diesel form), the Kia Carnival is a slightly larger and far more premium MPV.

A number of details regarding the Carnival are now common knowledge – it’ll be available in six-, seven- and eight-seat configurations, it’ll get a 2.2-litre diesel engine, along with a rear entertainment setup that includes two 10.1-inch screens.
