FIAT is doing dismal performance. Really they haven't been able to capture the buyers even with the Abarth. High time to revamp their portfolio of models w.r.t India otherwise they may face same fate as GM.

Toyota's Corolla Altis selling less than 500 units a month for 2 straight months?? It is a capable car and has strong brand backing then why isn't it picking up sales? Secondly, with the introduction of Yaris, is Toyota planning to stop sales of Etios Sedan or will it keep it for the fleet owners?

Seeing Renault, the only bread & butter models are Duster & Kwid. Duster even with the plain interior but a strong image in customer's mind has been getting them over 1K mark in sales on monthly basis and the blessing in disguise, KWID, has given them strong support for survival. Captur on the other hand even with all efforts hasn't clicked for them. Renault too needs to re-think on the product strategy for Indian market. Infact, They should bring in the Lodgy's facelift with more contemporary styling and pricing. The MPV segment has lot of scope for fresh and appealing products so Renault should think over it. Secondly, they need to launch cars in compact sedan segment which is garnering a lot of attention and has many worthy competitors followed by products in CITY-Ciaz territory.

Nexon closing-in on the 5K mark and now with the introduction of AMT it can reach and pass the mark as well.

A nice perspective, Fiat is surviving due to its National Engine, 1.3DDIS until 2020.

Now they have the Compass, and it's 2ltr DDIS engine, will also be used by Tata for their X5 and X7 SUV's.

Sir, that is all for the time being and they just cant sit back and take royalty from brands for their engines. If in their business strategy, Indian market is of importance then they should accordingly work to revamp their model line up too. Sir, in today's competitive scenario, the mantra for every industry and the mantra for each brand is "RE-INVENT". Secondly, the brands are moving away from Diesel engines so eventually even in India we might see the diesel engines removed from the brand's portfolio. As it is the govt is pumping in on the electric vehicles and cleaner fuels.

Sir, I feel Compass's success won't really turn the fortunes around for FIAT. Yes, both are part of a single entity but if individually we see them then FIAT isn't anymore creating buzz in the market. It is like their name and stature is fading away from the market. Selling engines isn't their only business. For example Sir, If a JLR car or SUV is doing good numbers in India, then it definitely doesn't mean that TML should sit back and enjoy the earning from JLR and take all their own business on the back-foot. Same is the case with VW-Skoda. So, FIAT should not just keep smiling on Jeep's earning rather they should work to improve their own presence as well. Honestly, In past 1.5 years or so FIAT hasn't launched anything new either as last I remember they launched a Punto's modified model that was also shown in 2016 Expo.

But Akash, this laid-back attitude is synonymous with Fiat, atleast in the Gulf, you will seldom see a panda, Punto or a 500, but lot's of jeeps and ferrari's.

GM was a different story, they atleast launched many different models, but their marketing strategy was a mess.

I suppose it's different countries strategy which works or doesn't.

Sir, this laid back attitude is costing them and will cost them in near future even more if they don't take action. Other automotive brands under FCA like Jeep & Ferrari are doing good enough individually in India but it is only FIAT cars which aren't creating that much of customer attention it seems from the above figures. Punto, Linea & Palio even today have their loyal followers then why isn't FIAT making an effort to revamp their line up in India and provide modern products is something that I fail to understand.

GM was a different story, they atleast launched many different models, but their marketing strategy was a mess.
From my personal experience of Optra, their marketing wasn't as much of a flaw rather the biggest issue was the spares and after sales. The dealership's attitude and casual approach at large costed them an entire country's market. Even today people love Cruze but the aftersales is matter of serious concern.

PS: Sir, Both Tata & Maruti are now having their in-house bigger diesel engines for their line up so gradually even that royalty will end. Tata also has 3L engines in it's portfolio so I feel going forward, FIAT has to revise it's strategy and improve upon it's presence and image in India.
