Holy Sh** Maruti Dzire had around 31K units in August.
It is more than most of manufactures dream of their complete portfolio. No doubt desire is a competent car, but these numbers are just mindboggling.
This is a prime example of Kaizen, continuous improvement even when you are at top. Congratulations to MSIL for beating the carp out of competition.

Cheers !!

Thanks Vibhor for the monthly update.

What's wrong with the bhartiya junta, 31k's dizire? which has steering problem issues.

Many B+ segment cars facing the heat from Tiago 7K+, good numbers, Kwid taking a beating.

Most Manufacturers gearing up for the festive season, so next 3 months should show healthy numbers.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire has blown the charts it seems. A new launch from Maruti Suzuki along with better features compared to the previous gen Dzire seems too tempting for Indians to resist not to mention a good 'kitna deti hai' figure as well.

Tata Tiago is doing pretty good, hope Nexon follows its foot steps.
Jeep compass has overtaken the sales figures of the combined sales figures of all Fiat cars already.
Festive season will see healthy car sales as well only sad part being increased CESS from 15% to 25% for Luxury cars [anger]

30,934 Dzires from Maruti is just like firing sales chart [surprise]. The total count of other CS in that segment doesn't come near it. There is also drop in Baleno sale, is it like people going to check Baleno are ending up buying Dzire or what? Secondly, oncoming festive season is adding to the dispatches for dealers stock.

Apart from the shocking dzire numbers, 2 things which grabbed attention:

1. Hexa seems to be doing pretty well and has maintained momentum - looks like AT has played a pivotal role in this.
2. Endeavour, with all the 3 variants having AT, selling close to 50% of Fortuner having both MT+AT spread across 6 variants is a feat in itself. It would not be surprising if the Endeavour outsold Fortuner's AT only variants sales.

Dzire sales shot up and all other compact sedans took a dive. Unless other car makers can bring in there refreshed versions and arrest the slide Dzire might even touch 40k soon. It looks bad for the Indian Car scene though.

Desire the Dzire is the theme of the day. They have made the shape better in new version. No wonder its the most VFM as reflected in sales. Tiago is going strong and proving to be value for money than celerio, figo, brio etc with their sales decreasing mom. Seems that tigor is cannibalizing zest sales.

Seems scary to look at car sales-depressing to be a non maruti or hyundai executive i would think. Every month the rest are barely doing anything noteworthy and we analyze v small percentage changes and imagine trends.
Perhaps in a few years we will be left with 4/5 major manufacturers-perhaps fiat, Hindustan motors, Chevy (now gone) and a few more will fall off-perhaps even VW?. The SAIC move sound interesting

Thats the worry, If other manufactuer's pull out will be back to the 90"s and dependent on what Maruti choose to offer us. And now we know Baleno's Swift sport etc sold in Europe are in the 950KG while Indian variants are 850Kg mark. What gives?

The Maruti Esteem also used to weigh around the 840Kg mark has Maruti moved forward or Back with this Heartect platform, proper crash tests at 64km frontal and side are required to clear these doubts. While lightweight means higher milage lesser strain on the engines, how robust are these cars.

Well and all manufacturers seem to be following Maruti's example and following suit, so we are going to be a market of lightweight fuel efficient cars I guess.

If these trends keep up in anther 5 years we will have Maruti +toyota, Hyundai and Kia , Mahindra, Tata and may be Honda. The rest will probably find it unviable and go the GM way.
