I was in similar dilemma, but off-late haven't heard anyone complaining about DSG. I chose petrol for the fact that it is quieter plus punchy compare to Diesel, where as Petrol is fuel guzzler Diesel offers better mileage.
I test drove A3 as well as Superb, but Octavia is significantly better than both in terms of driving dynamics. Superb being same spec, does not give feeling of pushing too hard or taking a sharp corner - may be a size is a culprit here? or premium interior make you feel relaxed- Psychology ;)
I am not sure, but I also felt brake to be more precise & giving better feedback compare to old gen. (Again, It can be just me).

On another note, i too am looking at replacing my Honda City and options zeroed on is Octy only as Jetta being discontinued. But getting confused between 1.8 Tsi dsg and 2.0 Tdi dsg, since the 1.8 being a dry clutch and all the horror eventualities with the gearbox while Tdi dsg with a wet clutch has Leena prone to lesser painful times for customers. Need thoughts/suggestions from existing customers of previous generation Octavia and knowledgeable auto experts.
