It is a niche product and given that TATA has no racing DNA to boast, there would have been few takers to sustain the product line. The need of the hour is to boost the commercial Vehicle segment and improve the fulfillment rate of passenger vehicle segment. | +1 to everything that has been said above.
The TAMO RaceMo was expected to be priced over the Rs. 25 lakh price tag. There would have been very few takers for the sports coupe at this price point. India is still a market that rides heavily on market image, resale value and practicality. The RaceMo wouldn't have performed great on any of these factors. I personally think that rechanneling the 250 crores to more generic segments would prove beneficial for the company.
Remember, no matter how good Xiaomi smartphones are, a major chunk of Indian customers still frown upon all products from the company, mainly because of the lack of any brand image. |
