Thanks Vibhor for the detailed sales figures. Coming to the figures, Popular models of Maruti like Baleno, Brezza, Eeco and couple more are showing a fall on "Month on Month" basis. This is something unique. It is probably an early sign perhaps of people's mood shifting to some other segments / brands. Also, an approx 1100 unit fall in BR-V in MoM basis also is showing a fall in the initial craze of people towards it.

I can see a couple of reasons for Baleno/Brezza: 1) The ridiculous 6 months plus waiting period touted by Nexa dealers at a time when the average ownership duration of cars is less than 5 years.
2) While the cars seem quite VFM, they will not appeal to those who prefer build overall quality over other things, hence there doesnt seem to be any drop in the sales of the Elite i20 or indeed the Ecosport which are competitors to Baleno and Brezza respectively. I just wish Hyundai had not done this sheer idiocy of bringing in the automatic i20 in its Magna variant. It defies belief when a modern car weighing over 1000kgs and costing over 9 lac, doesnt have ABS or indeed REAR WINDOW WIPER as standard equipment. This should swing some sales back to the Baleno CVT.

BR-V nos will further go down once Hexa will come in market as these both are MPV's and in the same price range.

Why Tiago nos went down? Tata still not upto the mark on production to meet the demand

I20 again took the podium no. even with Baleno is in waiting. Good hold

Kwid- again amazing story and will go far with 1.0L engine now available.

Maruti market share untouched.

Toyota Fortuner (457) is now selling on low number compared to previous 1000+ numbers. Toyota is testing the new Fortuner. NGT ban is lifted. So Toyota may be releasing the new Fortuner any time soon.

Ford Endeavour(702) is selling on decent figures.

Ford selling 702 is not what they can do, there is still waiting period and delivery issues pushing customers of the showrooms.

If ford can work towards it they can sell 1000+ units easily till the time new Fortuner put on roads.

Production

The industry produced a total 10,900,264 vehicles including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers, two wheelers and quadricycle in April-August 2016 as against 9,800,197 in April-August 2015, registering a growth of 11.22 percent over the same period last year.

Domestic Sales

The sales of Passenger Vehicles grew by 10.74 percent in April-August 2016 over the same period last year. Within the Passenger Vehicles, Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicles and Vans grew by 3.01 percent, 40.74 percent and 6.67 percent respectively during April-August 2016 over the same period last year.

The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered a growth of 7.97 percent in April-August 2016 as compared to the same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered a growth at 4.41 percent and Light Commercial Vehicles grew by 10.65 percent during April-August 2016 over the same period last year.

Three Wheelers sales grew by 15.44 percent in April- August 2016 over the same period last year. Passenger and Goods Carrier sales grew by 15.12 percent and 16.98 percent respectively in April-August 2016 over April-August 2015.

Two Wheelers sales registered a growth at 16.51 percent during April-August 2016 over April–August 2015. Within the Two Wheelers segment, Scooters, Motorcycles and Mopeds grew by 26.07 percent, 11.79 percent and 23.14 percent respectively in April-August 2016 over April-August 2015.

Exports

In April-August 2016, overall automobile exports declined by (-) 11.16 percent. While Passenger Vehicles and Commercial Vehicles exports registered a growth of 13.47 percent and 8.53 percent, exports of Three Wheelers and Two Wheelers declined by (-) 39.31 percent and (-) 12.67 percent respectively in April-August 2016 over April-August 2015.

1. Toyota Innova crysta 2. Ford Figo twins
I would have easily believed if numbers were opposite. But Innova at these numbers is astonishing & equally surprising are Figo twins numbers.

Look at Ford production numbers . Fiesta is shown as 20, i checked the Auto Punditz web site and it shows the said number .My query is that whether fiesta is being produced again, can anyone throw light on this one? .Thanks in advance.

Surprised to see GM sales increase with prior month. What can be reason? Any huge discounts offered? Most of the existing dealers are closing down or closed and still increase in sales. Sounds fishy?

Of Interest: The Top 10 only move up and down slightly; The rest seem to languish far behind
However, no one runs at a loss, so i assume they are also surviving on the lower sales
Tata Tiago is app at 19th spot,not bad considering it had a reputation to overcome
Recently BTVi interviewed all the trop brass of various car companies and we could get a glimpse of their thinking -intermediate and bit long term. Sadly i did not see anyone from TML. Wish we could here a bit more from them.

I had raised this question on page 1, Ford India website person says he does not have any info on Fiesta being on sale, it seems to be an error made by Autopunditz website

September 2016 sales
Maruti Suzuki clocks 31.1% rise in sales for September, highest ever monthly domestic sales-growing over 29 per cent in the domestic market.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, leader in passenger vehicles, sold a total of 149,143 units in September 2016, growing 31.1% over the same period of last fiscal. This includes 137,321 units in the domestic market and 11,822 units of exports.

The compact segment (Baleno, Swift and Dzire) and mini segment (Alto and Wagon R) have grown 12 and 25 per cent, respectively. Ciaz sales have grown 52 per cent to 6,544 units.
