Friends,

Renault has officially launched the Kwid Hatchback with a new 1.0L engine. This one litre engine is just 22K more expensive than the present one. Here is the The Automotive India's official coverage of the Kwid 1.0L launch by Renault at The Lalit, New Delhi. Thanks to all of you for always supporting and appreciating the content and to Vibhor for this opportunity.[:)] I have begun this new thread so that we can have the discussion specific to the all new 1.0L Kwid over here.

Thanks for the interesting update. What does the 4th image (slide) mean - that RXT prices will go up by 22K in future? Edit: Ok Understood from later images that +22K is price of 1.0L over the Kwid 0.8 L price

Nice review:)

I have one question. Renault compared it with all possible competitors except Tata Tiago, any reason or the new Kwid fell short in the comparison? [;)]

Akash@ please try to get the comparison in both these vehicles Tiago vs Kwid 1.0 if possible or if you can share the your observations now:)

Yes even I was wondering that why wasn't it compared to Tiago since both Kwid and Tiago are 3 Cylinder Engines. I shall surely give my views on it once I drive it.

Kerb weight of kwid is laughable in front of tiago. Tiago xm vs kwid xto will be an interesting fight in terms of price.

one more thing I noticed, in one of the slides it says best in class fuel economy. How? Alto and even Tiago are better in terms of mileage

Akash,

Thanks for the update.
Have they made any changes to
the structural integrity of the car?
Brakes?
Gear ratios?

The bigger engine will surely make the drive quicker and the already unsafe car will be even more unsafe. They seem to have carried forward the flimsyNess of the 0.8kwid over to the newer one too.

When I test drove the 0.8kwid few months back, the quality of plastic and super tinny metal disappointed me a lot.

For 22k extra, I am kind of sure they would have changed nothing except the engine size. Waiting for a test drive review

Structural integrity wise I feel even alto is way better than this car.Even within city back ended accidents pics of this car are horrible to say the least. What to talk of highways. On my Lucknow airport trip, last week a rashly driven kwid whizzed past me and everyone in my car noticed ,because of such a loud note the engine of kwid was emitting. Our windows were rolled up ,even then it was such a noisy engine. Renault is fooling us Average- obsessed ignorant Indians, who know(or actually don't want to know)nothing about safety ratings and all.

I have the exact same doubt in my mind. Have Renault simply plonked in a 1.0l engine into the erstwhile kwid or have they done anything with the structural integrity of the car which was extremely poor even with the 0.8l. I remember the erstwhile Kwid even came with 3 lugnuts instead of 4 and there argument was why don't other cars have 5 or 6 lugnuts or whatever. I am sure some people will be quick to point towards the Alto which is equally bad structurally but 2 wrongs doesn't make one right does it!

Waiting for your Kwid 1.0 review!!

Waiting for your Kwid 1.0 review!!
I would be catching it up likely on coming Tuesday! Will give review by next weekend.[:)] About the weight, I'll try and compare it with the 800cc KWID and see if along with the Brazil spec Kwid, this 1.0L Kwid too has been gained weight or not. We had been shown some video at launch of the media drive, over there, all the 'experts' and journos told one thing i.e "in the segment this Kwid is the best package". No one clearly mentioned about the shortcomings and had just given positives. I think, there has to be a balance as no machine is 100% perfect so whatever I heard there, not going by that, I'll see what are the actual plus and minus in the new offering.

Akash
