The Tiguan is one of the three new car launches planned for India with the other two being the Volkswagen Ameo compact sedan and the new Passat.

The Tiguan is the first SUV from the VW Group to be based on its flexible MQB platform that also underpins the new Passat and Skoda Octavia. The Tiguan will come to India in 2017 and is likely to be assembled at the VW Group plant in Aurangabad.

Now spotted at the dealer's stockyard in Bangalore.

Re: Volkswagen To Launch Tiguan in 2017

Spotted VW Tiguan while going towards Lonavala yesterday at around 6:00 pm. It was completely undisguised white colour. Was unable to catch it at it went past 140 kmph. Apologize for bad quality pics.

Thank you for the NCAP safety video of the Tiguan. I'm waiting for the day when our own mfrs offer their cars for such comprehensive tests and emerge with similar results.
Now, if only VW nails the prices sensibly....

I just read in another report (Motorbeam) that the expected pricing would be in the 32-36 lakhs bracket. Which would put it in the silly range & result in similar sales.

Re: Volkswagen To Launch Tiguan in 2017

Hi,

I was really excited for this car but with the GST coming in from july and taxes getting lower on bigger cars I wonder whether it would make more sense to wait before buying.

I feel either VW clarifies its Pre & POST GST prices at launch or there would be no other option than to wait till july.

Any doubt regarding prices will lead to loss in initial sales and loss to "New" factor in minds of buyers.

By pricing it within the range of choices like Tucson, MUX, Endeavour, Fortuner, BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, Santa Fe etc. (also the upcoming Jeep Compass), it seems to me that VW has made it really hard for the Tiguan to hold its ground

No doubt Tiguan is a good car, but with the current pricing, VW has killed it. With Tuscon already in market at much lower price, I don think any perspective buyer will look for this car.
It is in range of MU-X, I highly doubt success of this car with this pricing. Believe another Yeti for VW group.

Cheers !!

I too was thinking the same and the price difference between tuscon top end diesel automatic and tiguan comfortline diesel is 3 lakh rupèes. If you compare the features tiguan has a little more but most of the features are present in the tuscon Don't forget tiguan comfortline is 4×4 with different driving modes, paddle shifter, auto hold , heated seats which are a waste in indian climate , heat insulated glasses all around and tyre pressure monitoring system. even without checking the car i can say the build quality will be much better than the tuscon.
