Buddies,

Today we attended the showcase of BMW M-Performance cars at Bird Automotive in Gurgaon. This is a 3 day event that shall go on till tomorrow evening. Earlier too I had attended it way back in 2014 December but that time I did not have a good camera and neither had that much knowledge but still I went ahead and covered it that time as it was a matter of passion. In due time, with the support of you all and my family, yet again, for the 2nd time, I attended the very same event at the very same place. From 2014 end to 2016, a lot has changed in the model line up of BMW India. Today, I saw, all new X1 M, New 3 Series LCI, the uber hot 7 Series among others. I would like to put in a special word of thanks to my dear friend in BMW, Mr. Abhishek who also happens to be a TAI-ger for always supporting me in my efforts and to Vibhor, for giving me support and such a informative and helpful platform like TAI with so many helpful and supportive pals. Correction: There is no X1 M as such. It is probably the M sport kit at best.

It is the same car that was shown in Auto Expo in Feb-2016 i.e the Blue X1. It could be the kitted X1 but honestly, from the looks of it, X1 with M-Kit is way more aggressive than the normal X1 which also I saw in Mumbai.

Well Type R is partly correct,Most of these cars are not actually M Badged cars but have bits & pieces from the M badged cars or design department. BMW figured people will pay more & love the M badges alot so lets flex the name a bit.
I was keen on buying the new X1 but after some showroom visits & financial calculations i decided i am not prepared yet,but gave me a pretty good idea of the BMW line up from the sales team.
These cars are not really M version cars but are top of the line package usually called "M Sport" or "M-Line". And yes they have tiny M badges around to make you feel special . But never in the front or back of the car like the real M Cars.
The BMW X1(M Sport/line) top end which comes in Estoril blue(exclusive colour)has a full colour body kit(also exterior changes) & different M style rims,it also has a variable suspension(welcome to be corrected) know as the M performance suspension. You get badges on the steering wheel and side of the car and options of different leather & other interior options over the versions below it.The new X1 seems so good on paper that the X3 2.0 seems to be only for showoffs.

When i visited the showroom was really surprised to see M3 is now a tiny 4 door as my memories of the legendary M3 was different. Looks like the M4 is the successor for the old gen M3!

Yes so it is the M sport kit. Still it is not the X1 M because there is nothing of that sort exising!

Well BMW have certainly made it complicated for people to name their cars !And more than calling it a kit ,M sport/line has become a variant name now.
Mercedes have started similar with their GLE Coupe 450 by calling it AMG which i feel they should have reserved it for the 63 above only.
Also Merc offer pieces & kits from the AMG line up at jaw dropping prices for their regular cars. The only thing BMW does is give rim options(again jaw dropping prices) for some of their cars.

Did you get to check out the 7 series remote or demo of it?The showroom guys were telling me its revolutionary as it was just launching when i had visited the showroom.

Buddy I am planning to do a drive review of the same sometime soon and chalking out a plan for it. I am looking for companion in Mumbai who is interested for doing a joint TD with me in this weekend. So once I will drive, I will answer all the queries surely.
