That's a very discreet launch for a product with potential. Speculatively, could this be because they lack faith in their Auto transmission? From an engineering perspective, 6-speed planetary units can be very finicky.

Hyundai Creta petrol automatic launched at Rs. 12.86 lakh

South Korean auto-maker Hyundai finally announced the launch of the automatic variant of the Creta SUV in India on Tuesday, April 26. The Creta petrol automatic has been priced at Rs. 12.86 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Creta petrol automatic is powered by a 1.6-litre VTVT engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It is available in the SX+ variant and the SUV comes equipped with AVN, projector headlamps with LED positioning, rear parking camera and sensors, smart key with push button, 17 inch alloy wheels, a leather wrap on steering wheel and fully automatic temperature control.

"Hyundai Motor India has witnessed tremendous success with the Creta- The Perfect SUV. Introducing the new variant of automatic transmission in Creta showcases Hyundai's commitment to providing products based on customers wants and building the relationship as a customer centric company towards ensuring customers delight," Rakesh Srivastava, Sr VP – Sales & Marketing, HMIL, said in a statement.

"With safety as our priority we have also introduced Dual Airbags as standard across all Creta variants. The new Automatic variants and enhanced safety features will be instrumental in achieving our aim to be the most preferred car manufacturer in India."
Hyundai Creta, the SUV which made its market entry in India in July 2015, is offered in both petrol and diesel-engine options in the country. The 1.6-litre VTVT petrol engine churns out 121bhp and 151Nm of torque, while the 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine develops 126bhp and 259Nm of torque. The 1.4-litre CRDi diesel unit churns out 89bhp and 220Nm of torque. The entire engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, while the 1.6-litre CRDi is also available with six-speed automatic transmission.

Based on Hyundai Motor's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, the Creta SUV had crossed 1 lakh bookings within eight months of its entry into the market. Hyundai Creta petrol AT has a waiting period of up to 10 weeks in the country.

Hi,I need some urgent advice I am in 2 minds about buying the Creta SX+ Petrol Automatic or the Creta SX+ Diesel Automatic version, My running is close to 700 to 800 KM per month and mostly in city only. What I learn from reviews on Team BHP is that the Creta SX+ Petrol Automatic will return a mileage of 6 to 7 KMPL only in Bangalore bumper to bumper which is very disappointing, but in Bangalore the price difference between the 2 variant is 2.10 Lakhs which is huge. Also generally I keep a car for about 5-6 years only so my other concern is with a mileage that low will I get a good resale value for the Creta Petrol Automatic ? On the other hand will the Creta Diesel Automatic be effected on its resale value because of the probable 10 year ban on the Diesel cars ?

That is certainly a dilemma. I'd say create a thread in the car shopper section (The Car Shopper) of TAI, you'll likely get more responses there!
