With reports of decline in sales of the Honda Mobilio, the manufacturer might stop production of their MPV soon.
With the dwindling numbers seen in 2015 ( 3 digit figures in most part of 2015 sales/month) the Mobilio could be axed.
Maruti Suzuki's Ertiga and Toyota's Innova are leading players in this segment.

This also would make a strong position for its upcoming BR-V essentially having similar looks to the Mobilio.
With the BR-V Honda could demand a premium because of its well built and feature rich car.

BR-V is likely to be launched in the first half of 2016.

Re: Rumour - Honda likely to phase out its MPV - Mobilio

MOBILIO and BR-V are based on the same chassis and body panels. What really differentiates them is the front and back bumper and the suspension setup in lieu of the higher ground clearance and larger wheels. SO there is really no point in discontinuing the MOBILIO as it uses the same tools of the Amaze and the upcoming BR-V.

Re: Rumour - Honda likely to phase out its MPV - Mobilio

The phasing out of Mobilio was much anticipated or rather I'll say destined. Mobilio wasn't able to strike a chord with the buyers even though with H-Label. BR-V in comparison to Mobilio, looks more aggressive and plush in flesh. I somehow smell a Toyota-like move being done by Honda here. Toyota ended Innova's production for Crysta and Honda phasing out Mobilio for the BR-V. The only difference here being, Innova was the big daddy of MPV segment and immensely popular with the buyers/enthusiasts.

Re: Rumour: Honda Likely To Phase Out Mobilio

With such a short life cycle what about those people who bought mobilio already. It's unfair on them to discontinue the production. Honda has to take cue's from tata here. For maintaining the production line and bringing down the service and spare parts cost even if their many autos are not doing great apart from taxi market. Honda has to continue both mobilio and maintain BR-V side by side, atleast in the intrest of the people who own them.

They were already charging a premium on the mobilio. The brv should come at the existing mobilio's price or it will be dead on arrival but i guess they will price this at 10-12 lakhs ex showroom for the base variant.

Re: Rumour: Honda Likely To Phase Out Mobilio

Honda will launch the BR-V on May 1st.

Based on the Brio platform and built with a SUV stance , Honda expects this 'SUV' to generate more excitement to the market than its lackluster Mobilio.

It has a typical SUV like high ground clearance and a dynamic exterior design. The AC vents, the glovebox, the instrument cluster all are new and the steering wheel is identical to the Jazz.

Dimension wise the BR-V is 4455 mm long, 1735 mm wide and 1650 mm tall, with a 2660 mm-long wheelbase. Other relevant numbers include a 1500 mm front and rear track, as well as 200 mm of ground clearance.

I highly doubt if the Mobilio will be phased out. They should add the same interiors on the Mobilio and sell it as an MUV. CarWale news is mostly incorrect from what I have been tracking.

Honda BR-V launch on 1st May - EXCLUSIVE - MotorOctane
I hate to say this, but the BR-V looks more like MPV than an SUV, in fact it looks like the Honda equivalent of a Xylo. The height to length ratio is all wrong. Duster is 13cm shorter than BR-V, and yet is taller by a fraction (1.695m vs 1.65m). it is also about 9cm wider, contributing to that SUV'ish stance, not to mention slightly higher GC.
4.45m is too long for SUV. For that, the car should be the height of atleast an XUV500 (1.76m tall for 4.58m length).

Nope, its still a Mobilio-with-heels in my book. Doesnt exude that robust, gravel bashing character. Even the CRV looks more of a proper SUV.

Re: Rumour: Honda Likely To Phase Out Mobilio

The problem with the Mobilio is that it does not look and feel like a 14 Lakh car. We have 2 Mobilios in the family and no issues as of date. Nobody minds to pay 11 lakhs for a polo or 18 lakhs for the innova.

The Price TAG and random dash board design made the sales to go down. Comparing with Ertiga, Lodgy the material finish and quality looks poor.

End of road for Honda Mobilio in India?
Honda Cars India, the company's wholly-owned-subsidiary, has stopped manufacturing the Mobilio and exhausted the stocks

There are new safety regulations coming from this year. The current Mobilio does not conform to regulations. So in order to continue to sell the vehicle we need to put in lot of investment or modification of the model

Re: Rumour: Honda Likely To Phase Out Mobilio

looks like BR-V is also going on the same track of sales as shown by Mobilio. Feb 2017 sale of BR-V is 703 units as compare to 1458 units in Jan 2017. Honda overpriced there products & looks like customers are not ready to pay only for brand name these days.
