Maruti's revenue from mini car segment shrinking, sales driven by compacts, mid size sales .
The mini segment, which includes models like Alto and Wagon R, accounts for just 18.7 per cent of Maruti's revenues in the first half of 2016 - a sharp dip from the 22.6 per cent share of revenues in fiscal 2014.
During the same period, the super compact segment (with models like Dzire Tour) and mid-size segment (models like Ciaz) grew steadily in revenues.

But competition thinks otherwise - Kia, Daihatsu planning to enter India[:)]

Kia Motors, the Korean compact-car specialist controlled by Hyundai Motor, is quietly plotting an entry into India - The Kia management, on the other hand, is busy negotiating with several state governments to set up a manufacturing facility.
Kia is likely to select Tada in Andhra Pradesh as its manufacturing site because of its close proximity to Hyundai Motor India's facility at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.

Daihatsu
With Toyota Motor-owned Daihatsu too planning its presence in India, this could pose a serious challenge to the dominance of Maruti Suzuki in the nation's small-car market.

It is speculated that these companies to launch products in India starting 2018-19.

Kia Motors, Hyundai's sibling, set to enter India.

It has already started preliminary work on identifying land for its factory and is looking at possible models and suppliers. "Once completed, the factory may even be used by Hyundai to manufacture of some of its models,"
However, there will "surely be linkages" at the back-end and there could be harmonization in procurement of raw material as well as using the parts suppliers. "Logistics could be another area where Hyundai's long-standing experience in India will be tapped into. The idea is to dig into Hyundai's experience in all non-retail areas,"
