Chevrolet Onix will be competing with Elite i20 – EXCLUSIVE

Chevrolet India is gearing up to launch several new products in India and one of them that we had mentioned is the Prisma, which will be a direct competitor to the Honda City. This same new platform will even churn out a premium hatchback that will be called as Onix. This new hatchback will be competing with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Honda Jazz.

The Chevrolet Onix is at the moment available in the Brazilian market and this platform will be introduced in India as well. The Onix was launched in 2012. Chevrolet will be making several changes to the platform to make it more suitable for Indian car buyers. The Onix will be launched in India by mid-2017. The company has commenced working on this new hatchback and sedan. The new-generation Cruze too is also in the working. This will be launched with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. There could be an automatic on the offering for the petrol variant.

The Chevrolet Onix will be manufactured in the company’s Talegaon plant. For this year, Chevrolet will launching the Spin (likely to be named as Essentia) and Spin Activ (could be called as Spin Activ). Chevrolet is on its way to shut its Halol plant as it is moving all its operations to the Talegaon facility in Maharashtra. GM has already commenced moving its facility from Indonesia to India.

Re: Chevrolet's Elite i20 revival is ONIX- Exclusive

It resembles Tata Zica or may be Zica got inspired from it.

Is it a car designed by Chery-GM joint venture?

It's "rival"; not "revival" ji.
By the way, the Onix looks extremely dated, even dated than the Sail twins.
As Nishanth bro said, the Sonic twins look fantastic and will turn heads more. Will help Chevy regain their market share too.
Like always, Chevy India is in deep slumber and still hasn't understood Indian market I guess.

Chevy india really needs to be serious about the indian market and launch fresh futuristic models for this country otherwise they can never make up the for the lag! introducing some age old design cars will not help chevy india improving their image or sales it will perform the same as sail twins did! come on chevy get us some hot hatches you offer abroad![cry]
