Fiat India will re-introduce their Punto hatchback next month and call it the Punto Pure. The marketing outreach will be an attempt to clear the stocks of the old Punto that have remain unsold after the launch of the Punto Evo.

The Fiat Punto is known for its sturdy build quality and superb handling. The classic Italian design is pleasing as against the current generation of aggressive looks. The Fiat Punto was sold with two engine options – the 1.3-litre Multijet turbocharged diesel engine and the 1.4 FIRE naturally aspirated petrol engine. Both the engines were mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Punto Pure will be available in three trims – Active, Dynamic and Emotion with the Emotion being the top-spec variant. If you are lucky, you may also be able to land yourself the original Punto Sport with the 90bhp setup of the diesel Multijet engine. The cars will all be manufactured in 2014 and we expect Fiat to come out with a very tempting price tag and overall package.

The Fiat Punto is a premium hatchback and competes with the likes of the Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Baleno. Though the car is a generation older, if the pricing is right, it may still turn out to be a good value for money car provided you have an authorised service centre nearby.

Re: Scoop! Fiat To Bring Back Original Punto

True, I received a whattsapp msg from a former Tata Nano SA, who has joint Fiat, and told me that Fiat is going to come with a diesel on road price of 5.5l in Jan '16

With 68 PS of raw power? Yeah.. That is not gonna happen. At least, the 1.4 petrol would make sense.

These are old 2014 model which were lying unsold with Fiat. This is an attempt by them to clear this old inventory. This is not a permanent model. It will last as long as the old stock is not cleared. They have already Punto Evo on sale with powerful engine. They are providing a weaker engine to keep the price low so that the inventory can be cleared.

Not worth by any means, specially when Fiat are running around 1lac discount on Evo.

Moreover punto pure model as per their website has only front power windows, no ABS nor airbags.

The diesel would have been a good buy if they had thrown ABS and 2 airbags.
