The brand is now developing an advanced modular platform (codenamed as AMP) that it will be using for the Indian car market in the future. This platform will be churning out a hatchback and a notchback as the first two products. These will be in the segment of Grand i10 and XCent. These will be powered by a new generation petrol and diesel engines that are under development. There will also be AMT (automated manual transmission) on offer as well. These products will be hitting the market in 2019.

The brand is working on three new platforms in total including the AMP. The other two platforms include Raptor and Harrier. These two will churn out UVs and crossovers

TATA desperately is looking out for partners!

VW is likely to go the MQB Way.[clap]

After the fallout with VAG group for platform sharing, NOW TATA motors is still looking for partnership for new platform.

The homegrown auto major is seeking to share its new vehicle platform AMP with potential partner to bring volume and create economies of scale, while also creating access to new technologies keeping in mind future opportunities in the Indian market
We are still seeking for opportunities ... We are still open and we are still elaborating opportunities ... We are open for all kind of collaborations

Here is a thought. Why doesnt Tata Motors actually acquire a smaller but competent car manufacturer (Mazda for instance) ? This way, the TML group will have companies and brands which are more customer-amenable, rather than develop their own products. They can of course, concentrate on the CV business on their own.

Tata Motors should actually join hands with FIAT for platform sharing. I know that FIAT's India volumes are abysmally low currently, but they could certainly use Tata Motor's AMP platform for their export markets.

Oh God! Ratan Tata is going to sink TATA Motors. Someone please wean him away from Nano. Nano has already shaved off Rs.4000 Crores from the company. How long will Ratan keep massaging his own ego?

Seems we have a Mr. Mistry here. Nano has shaved off Rs.4000 crores from the company!! Don't be dumb to blindly believe someone else's words. Use some logic. And by the way, Mr. Ratan Tata was at the helm of the entire Tata Group for so many years. I am sure he is well beyond this stuff like 'Ego' or 'Pride', etc.
