The only solution to the saga of ever rising fuel prices in India is the introduction of Hybrid vehicles and if this has to materialize then the Govt should have the will power to subsidize x% of the vehicle cost which is already followed in many developed countries.
Just see the FE of Honda Fit/Jaaz Hybrids which was launched in Japan early this month - 36.4kmpl !!!
Its true that you have to pay a premium for these vehicles but if the govt is willing to provide some subsidy then i am sure there will be lot many takers for HEVs. But i am not very optimistic here as in one hand they are trying to deregulate the price of diesel so its highly unlikely that they will think about providing subsidy for HEV buyers.
Its a matter of fact that the whole story of this ever increasing price of fuel in India will continue and we a bunch of guys will open this forum and start scribbling few angry/frustrated words and still head to the fuel station to fill gas. The reason for this is quite simple - 'We have no other options', but who said we dont have other options? Yes we do have:
-Leave your car at home and start using public transport network
-Practice good driving practices to improve the FE
