Nissan is gearing up to bring back its erstwhile flagship SUV, the X-Trail, which is likely to hit Indian showrooms this festive season. The X-Trail was the first Nissan to be officially sold in India in 2004 through the Japanese carmaker's national sales network. However, the last generation X-Trail was discontinued in 2014 due to low demand.

The current-generation X-trail was unveiled in 2013, at the Frankfurt motor show.

Re: Nissan May Launch X-Trail Face-lift on Diwali 2015

Face lift? I think this is the all new XTrail & it is more rounded compared to early one's boxy design. Anyway, it looks good & premium but will only click if price well. Nissan should assemble it rather then CBU, which would help in keeping costs in check. I will consider one if it is priced well.

Pull off your sleeves, keep your pockets full of bucks and get ready to take a new ride in the upcoming festive season in the country. Amid a number of new launches making their way to India during festive ambience, its Japanese automaker Nissan that is gearing up for the release of its third generation Nissan X-Trail in the nation. Already displayed at ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show 2015, the upcoming Nissan car will boast a list of new features to entice prospective buyers.

Available in a choice of 5-seater and 7-seater pattern, new Nissan X- Trail gets a whole new exterior and interior touch this time. While the outer appeal will be ensured by the presence of D-pillar kink, C-shaped tail lamps, slim headlights and V-Motion grille, the interiors are going to attract many heads. On the feature list, the upcoming Nissan car sports keyless entry, power windows, central locking, fabric seats, AM/FM radio with CD/USB/AUX and cruise control.

However, the optional features like parking sensors, rear camera, automatic a/c, leather power front seats will also be there to make your ride all the more comfortable. Besides this, X-Trail gets Active Ride Control which is a really good add-on in the car. This will scan the road ahead and will adjust the suspension of the wagon accordingly, thereby helping out the drivers in the off-road trips. It will also feature a 7-inch touchscreen Nissan-Connect Infotainment system on the inside.

Mechanically, the Indonesia specific model of the X-Trail comes with MR20DD 2.0-litre direct-injected four-cylinder engine and the QR25DE 2.5-litre MPI four-cylinder engine options. While, the former can produce a peak power of 144 PS and maximum torque of 200 Nm, the latter can deliver 171 PS power and 233 Nm torque. As far as the transmission is concerned, the QR25DE engine is coupled with an Xtronic CVT and the MR20DD engine that comes with two gearbox choices of six-speed manual transmission or an Xtronic CVT. As the India-specific model is concerned, the car will most probably be available in Nissan 2.0 DCi motor, which will be mated to a CVT. Available in both FWD and 4WD options, X-Trail can touch the maximum speed of 170 kmph.

Moving to the safety features, the soon to be launched Nissan X-Trail will be adorning number of aspects to keep the life of passengers secure inside. Some of the features include Hill Start Assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Active Engine Braking and ISOFIX child seat anchors and front dual airbags. The X-Trail Wagon will be offered in multiple color choices of Floral White, Premium Bronze, Diamond Silver Metallic, Smokey Grey Metallic and Metallic and Phantom Black body shade.

Well, it is true that earlier too, Nissan tried to cash on the X-Trail in Indian market but despite being a brilliant package, the car could not create a good impression on customers minds. The situation was in fact so worse that Nissan could only sell 7 units of this vehicle in the year of its launch. Now, with some of the major changes made to the car both inside out, Nissan is definitely looking for healthier opportunities this time. Once launched in India, X-Trail will be fighting against the likes of Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Hyundai Santa Fe.

Let’s see, if festivities in India can pour happiness in Nissan’s lap or it will have to face the same dull response as received from the previous model.
