The Renault Duster will get visual updates from the Adventure edition made standard on the facelifted version, while the automatic variant will be available only in 2WD mode.

So the Hyundai Creta is here with waiting periods extending to six months on certain variants, much to the discomfort of the Renault Duster. In addition, the Maruti S-Cross will be launched on 5th August and having gauged initial positive reviews and with Maruti’s strong backup at its side, the Duster does not emerge as the same potent proposition in the market as before. The French automaker seems to be feeling the heat now in the segment once dominated by its best selling product and hence is working to launch a facelift and an automatic variant of the Duster later this year.

The Renault Duster facelift though won’t be in-line with the European spec version and instead will get subtle upgrades for a fresher appeal. The automaker is most likely to use several features from the previously launched Adventure limited edition that introduced carbon finished wheels, smoked headlamps and black cladding around the fog lights on the compact SUV. Changes inside the cabin can be expected to be minimal. The automatic variant though will be the major highlight as it will primarily rival the Hyundai Creta.

Renault will introduce a new 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission called the Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) on the Duster that is offered on several of the company’s European small cars as well as the Russia spec Dacia Duster. The automatic transmission will come paired to a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine producing 110 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque, but will be available only in 2WD mode. The possibility of a 4WD automatic version at a later stage cannot be ruled out. While details aren’t clear as yet, the new Duster is expected to hit the showrooms during the October-November period this year, after the highly anticipated Kwid small car goes on sale.

Renault Duster facelift for India snapped for the first time – Spied

On the outside, its evident that designers have given the Duster LED or LED-effect taillights, though the overall shape of the clusters remain identical to the current model. New alloy wheels are also noticed on this prototype, and while spyshots of the front are unavailable, Renault is expected to tweak the design of the headlights, bumper and grille as well.
What is also interesting is that the dashboard of this prototype is camouflaged, indicating that interior changes will be more than just a new seat upholstery, or entertainment system. However, mechanically, the Duster facelift is expected to retain its 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine, though one report pointed out that Renault is keen to get its 6-speed dual-clutch EDC automatic transmission on this variant. The current Duster is also available with a 1.6-liter petrol engine, which should continue on the facelift as well.

Renault Duster Explore launched at Rs 9.99 lakh

Renault has launched a limited version of the Duster called the Duster Explore. The SUV is available in a diesel version only and in two trim levels – 85PS RxL Explore and 110PS RxL Explore. The 85PS RxL Explore is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh while the 110PS RxL Explore is priced at Rs 11.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The changes made to the Duster Explore over the standard model are purely cosmetic. It gets a darkened chrome grille, smoked headlamps, a bull bar on the front bumper with additional lights, decals on the hood and lower door panels, dark anthracite alloy wheels with orange centre inserts and a darkened chrome strip on the tail gate.

Inside, it gets a new dual tone seat fabric, orange inserts on the doorcards, dashboard, instrument cluster and floor mats, additional chrome detailing around the cabin and a leather-wrapped steering with orange stitching. The limited-edition Duster also gets features such as Eco mode, gear shift indicator and cruise control with speed limiter.

The Duster Explore is powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine as the standard model in two states of tune – 83.8bhp and 108.5bhp. The 85PS model is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox while the 110PS model is offered with a six-speed manual.

Renault is also preparing a facelifted version of the Duster for the Indian market and test mules have been spotted on the roads. The facelifted Duster's styling is expected to be more in line with the version unveiled in Brazil earlier this year. The facelifted model is expected to be powered by the same set of engines as seen on the current Duster.

Re: Renault Duster Facelift with 6-Speed DC Automatic Transmission

2016 Dacia Duster To Come With Easy-R AMT Gearbox

Dacia will be unveiling the 2016 Duster at the Frankfurt auto show. The vehicle comes with slight improvements on the cosmetic front that make the SUV more appealing. Dacia is also adding more equipment to the vehicle and the new features include – diamond-effect black alloy wheels, MEDIA-NAV Evolution multimedia system, reverse camera and new upholstery. The company is also introducing an Urban Explore trim for certain markets. However, the most important addition to the 2016 Duster is an Easy-R AMT gearbox! Yes, a Duster with an AMT. The AMT gearbox is going to make the SUV more desirable to customers now.

The Easy-R AMT gearbox is a 5-speed unit that is mated to the TCe 90 engine. A start-stop functionality has also been added. The AMT gearbox will be offered on the Logan, Logan MCV, Sandero and Sandero Stepway before the end of this year. The Easy-R transmission has two modes to choose from – Drive and Manual. The Drive mode requires no explanation while in the Manual mode, the driver gets full ability to control the gears as per his wish. The Drive mode changes gears on its own by factoring the driving style, engine RPM levels and vehicle speed.

The Easy-R unit also comes with a crawl function, something that is missing on the AMT gearbox on vehicles like the Tata Zest. Dacia also states that the AMT gearbox makes the vehicle consume lesser fuel as compared to a standard automatic transmission. Renault will also be launching the 2016 Duster in India. We can assume that the automaker will incorporate the same AMT gearbox in the Indian version of the SUV too and it’ll be a great choice in the compact SUV segment. Apart from the Duster, Renault might just experiment offering the AMT box on the Lodgy as well but that is still a distant possibility.

Re: Renault Duster Facelift with 6-Speed DC Automatic Transmission

AMT gearbox on duster won't see many takers. IMO AMT should be reserved to budget hatchbacks only, it can never match the smoothness of normal AT. DCT on the other hand is tempting. They could also share it with fluence, it'll improve the slow seller's desirability. Lodgy could benefit too.

Re: Renault Duster Facelift with 6-Speed DC Automatic Transmission

Renault Duster facelift with possible AT snapped in India – Spied

Likely to come with Renault’s EDC technology.
AutoX has spyshots of the Renault Duster facelift, which is expected to launch in India later this year. Interestingly, a spyshot of the interior hides the gearlever, which has fueled speculations of Renault testing an automatic transmission variant of the crossover.

The Duster’s main rivals, the Hyundai Creta and the Mahindra Scorpio are available with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and it was only a matter of time before Renault India offered something similar. The report states that the Duster facelift will come with Renault’s EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch transmission), which is a 6-speed unit, paired to the 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine in its 110 PS tune.
Changes on the outside will extend to new headlights with LED daytime running lights, a new chrome grille, revised bumpers and new alloy wheels. Inside, the Duster facelift will see minor changes to its trim and upholstery. As Renault India introduced a new 3-spoke steering wheel on the 2015 model year update, alongside minor changes to the instrument cluster, these parts and components are unlikely to be altered.

Re: Renault Duster Facelift with 6-Speed DC Automatic Transmission

The facelift looks impressive and if there is going to be a new petrol engine then that is more good news. the design tweaks in the front grille and headlight panels make it look more masculine. introducing a 6 speed AMT was a must to remain in the competition. when can we expect it to hit the indian market? are the pictures from the brazil launch?

AMT on a 15 lakh SUV? What are these jokers up to? Hope the common man will teach these arrogant fellows a good lesson or two.

Re: Renault Duster Facelift with 6-Speed DC Automatic Transmission

And the article says it will be 1 lakh more than manual variant. One side for the cost they are opting for AMT and charging upto 1 lakh. Sounds insane. More than 30-40K for AMT will defeat the purpose. Moreover in 13-15 laks range not sure anyone is interested in AMT.

Re: Renault Duster Facelift with 6-Speed DC Automatic Transmission

Wasn't the facelift in the pipeline for the Indian market since long? I am not sure it was because of the launches of Creta or S-cross. Anyway, the interiors seemed to hidden in the spy vehicle so its hard to tell how they will be but looks like they are tweaked much like the exterior. The costing will also be key, it should be value for money with the AMT. Would like to know more about EDC.

Re: Renault Duster Facelift with 6-Speed DC Automatic Transmission

Guys, I think this is the new facelift which is soon going to launch here in India. And this resembles with the camouflaged pics posted on this thread.
https://www.renault.com.br/veiculos/conheca-nossa-gama/duster.html

This above link is for the Brazil Model of Duster but this is pretty much the same thing which we will get here sans the 2.0 ltr engine [cry].

Here I think we will get the same 1.5 DCi along with the rumored AMT thingy.

My take on this facelift based on the info which I got from the Brazil website is that its merely a cosmetic update including new headlamp design, new front grill, LED tail lamp, Media NAV Evolution (Dont know whats new in this), thicker roof bars etc.

If someone is in the market looking to buy the Duster, I would advise that he/she should wait till this facelift launches here in couple of months. And if we really get just the cosmetic updates in the facelift we can then extract maximum discount on the ongoing models (the 2015 updated ones, including the explorer editions) once the facelift models are launched. Its just my suggestion because I am in the same boat. [:D]

Also, guys do share if you find more info on this.

Re: Renault Duster Facelift with 6-Speed DC Automatic Transmission

Equipping the Duster with AMT instead of regular AT is a stupid decision. Maybe they wanted to match Creta in terms of an automatic option, yet keep it cheaper via AMT. But the person who buys a 15 lac car is well aware of AMT versus regular AT. Renault, wake up!. People wont mind buying a sophisticated EDC or DCT because Duster is an established brand image (forget the recent drop in sales). Maybe a significant portion of Creta AT users went to Creta simply because there is a decently sized compact crossover with an AT option (larger than Ecosport).
Renault is still not exploiting the Dusters true potential here.

Re: Renault Duster Facelift with 6-Speed DC Automatic Transmission

I don't know whether the AMT Renault says is sourced from fiat's MM, or their own technology. If it's Renaults own technology kindly first prove it in kwid AMT and then put it in 5 times costlier Duster. Just a humble suggestion to Renault to not spoil the brand image of duster u created, bcz I own one.

As far as I checked Renault never had production car with AMT. So like Suzuki prove its capable in a small car first.
